Travel
Navigation
Movement between the different regions will be done through platforming/racing zones, in the spirit of the 'Special Stages' from classic Sonic games, that focus on the region's characteristics:
- The Electric Wilds— Racing
- Wind City— Platforming
- The Clans— Treasure-Hunting
- The Pools of Reflection— Rhythm Games
- The Domain— Obstacle Courses
After the events of Act 2 a Fast-Travel system becomes available using the alien technology known as 'Rings'
Region-Specific Activities
Each region has its own unique ecology, geography, and culture. As such, each region has its own unique activity:
- The Electric Wilds
Forces of Nature: Quakes and tornadoes rip across the plateau, leaving a trail of destruction that only the bravest amongst the Wild Ones dare tread
- Wind City
Flight School: From helicopters to bi-planes—dirigibles to hot-air balloons—take to the skies in death-defying races or test your mettle in some friendly aerial-combat
- The Clans
The Arena: No holds barred combat—1v1, 2v2, and Battle Royale—in modern arena-style or classic 2D, hone your martial arts in the legendary fighting-pits
- The Pools of Reflection
Fishing: Pick your lure, pick your spot, and cast away! Catch and catalog rare species and epic specimens
- The Domain
Obstacle-Course: Race across the frozen training-grounds of the elusive Spectres and master the Way of the Shadow
Races
As the player progresses through the main quest, other regions of the planet will become available. Some of these regions contain plot-related races where the player will have to select a member of the team to 'main,' for the race. If won, these races reward the player with unique items that will significantly enhance the stats of the selected character.
From Act 2 onwards the player will be able to return to these areas and compete for the other 'missed' items.
Side-Quests
It is my belief that all side-quests should flow organically from the look and feel of the various towns, regions, and outposts of the game. So, this section will remain undeveloped until the talented minds over at Sonic Team pick it up and begin to truly—visually and audibly—create the world.
