Teenage pregnancy remains a significant concern in the barangay, influenced by various factors such as cultural norms, religious beliefs, limited access to reproductive health services, and lack of proper education. This issue not only affects the health and future opportunities of young mothers, but also places social and economic strain on families and the community as a whole.
However, with comprehensive and age-appropriate reproductive health education, open communication, and access to support services, teenage pregnancy can be prevented. Empowering adolescents with the right knowledge and guidance is essential in helping them make informed decisions, safeguard their well-being, and build a brighter future. It is due to this that the team aims to decrease the overall incidence of teenage pregnancy by 50% in Barangay Lindang by the year 2027. Thus, the following intervention plans are made:
Presence of 7 cases of adolescent pregnancy in the community as supported by primary data, from years 2021 to 2024.
The 15 - 19 year old population makes up the second most in the total population of Barangay Lindang (10%) and is most at risk for recurrence of teenage pregnancy.
Lack of sexual knowledge on certain topics as identified by surveyors in the community.

🟠1st Objective: To increase the knowledge of parents in Barangay Lindang on reproductive health education.
FAMILY PLANNING SYMPOSIUM 🧑🧑🧒 (July 3, 2025): PAGLIKAY, PAGBANTAY, PAGPLANO!
The Family Planning Symposium entitled "Paglikay, Pagbantay, Pagplano!" focused on teenage pregnancy, highlighting its impact through discussions on family planning, maternal health, and the financial challenges of unplanned pregnancies.
With a speaker from the DSWD, the session was geared toward parents in Barangay Lindang—especially those with children aged 10–19—to help them guide their children through early reproductive health education. Out-of-school youth with a history of teenage pregnancy also attended, benefiting from the supportive and informative environment. The symposium aimed to promote open family communication and informed decision-making to prevent early pregnancies.
🟠 2nd Objective: To increase awareness of adolescents in teenage pregnancy prevention in Barangay Lindang through established peer to peer support group capacity building and educational orientations.
HEALTHY YOUNG ONES ORIENTATION 🧒(July 9, 2025)
The “Healthy Young Ones” Workshop was a valuable learning session for Grade 9 and 10 students, aimed at promoting awareness on adolescent health and development. Using the DOH Healthy Young Ones flipchart, the orientation covered key topics such as male and female puberty, the male reproductive system, menstruation, hygiene practices, and the realities of teenage pregnancy.
A knowledgeable guest speaker led the session, ensuring that the students received accurate and age-appropriate information. The event was well-received, with active participation from the students, making it a successful step toward empowering youth to make informed and healthy decisions.
🟠3rd Objective: To enhance capacity to deliver effective reproductive health education and counseling among educators in Barangay Lindang National Highschool.
A focused initiative will be conducted in January 2026 specifically for teachers of Barangay Lindang National High School to enhance their capacity in delivering comprehensive health education. The program will cover key topics such as puberty, reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections, and contraceptive methods, using engaging materials like videos, posters, and flyers. As part of the activity, teachers will also take the lead in designing an informative bulletin board to raise awareness on teenage pregnancy and promote informed, healthy decision-making among their students.
🟠4th Objective: To promote the sustainability of reproductive health services through existing policies and initiatives.
Team Layag Lindang will work closely with Barangay Officials this January 2026, to help strengthen reproductive health services in the community. Part of this effort is to advocate for the creation of local ordinances that will support ongoing reproductive health education and put clear guidelines in place to ensure consistent and accessible care for everyone—especially women, youth, and other vulnerable groups.
