I went over this a little bit in the first chapter, but i'll explain the rising sign better in this one. Your sun sign is who you are to other people and moon sign is who you are alone in the 1st house. Your rising sign is who you are really, at your core. This is represented by AC.
Your midheaven is your life's purpose, represented by MC in the 10th house. Here's how to use your midheaven to find out your best career:
Find your midheaven sign. Mine is Sagittarius.
Take the ruling planet of your midheaven sign (go to chapter 1). Sagittarius rules jupiter and my jupiter is in my 11th house.
11th house is social networking and big groups, meaning that my best career may involve lots of socializing. Use this link to find out potential careers for your house.

Your descendant is located in the 7th house, opposite to your ascendant. It is represented by DC. It is who we are NOT at our core, though we may think we are and sometimes have the tendencies of. My descendant is Virgo, meaning that I am not a very grounded, orderly/organized, and stable person.
Your imum coeli (IC) is the opposite of the midheaven, located in the 4th house. It is our inner self, connected to our past, home, and education. It's what we try to hide in ourselves, our unconscious. If your IC is a water sign, it means most likely that you're more comfortable sharing your self.
