PLANETARY DEGREES

You may have heard people say something such as "oh, I have a 2 degree sun in scorpio!" The chart is 360 degrees. Twelve divisions of 30 degrees each in the sky for the signs! These 30 degree divisions are also split into 3 decans of 10 degrees each.

Let's think of each sign as a color, with each decan being a shade.

CARDINAL SIGN CRITICAL DEGREES: 0, 13, 26

FIXED SIGN CRITICAL DEGREES: 8-9, 21-22

MUTABLE SIGN CRITICAL DEGREES: 4, 17

These degrees may hold more meaning in your chart or have more significance.

Let's say I have a Virgo Venus in the second decan, meaning I have a Virgo/Capricorn Venus. This means I would be pretty conservative or logical romantically. You can tell this not just by the Virgo, but with Capricorn and Saturn reinforcing feelings of responsibility and discipline that could come off as being paranoid.

• 18th Degree: Health Issues, Bad Luck

• 22nd Degree: Loss, Death

WHAT IS VEDIC ASTROLOGY?

NOTE: I am hindu myself and my mother practices Vedic Astrology.

Vedic Astrology is Indian/Hindu astrology. Also called Jyotish, it deals with astral light patterns.

Vedic Astrology uses a natal chart to find out planetary positions to find dashas. Dashas are like a timeline a vedic astrologer can use.

Vedic Astrology uses the fixed zodiac while Western/Tropical astrology uses the moving zodiac. The sun moves by a small degree per year, so the moving zodiac is off by the fixed zodiac by around 23 degrees. This is why your sun sign may differ between both types! Some say Jyotish manifests later in life.
