Frequently Asked Questions

In our experience, there are a few questions which arise very often when we talk to potential new members.

In order to save time for everyone, I greatly recommend you to read this page - so we can proceed with more interesting things if all is good and clear to you!

The Edict sounds great! How do I join?

We're so happy to hear you're interested in us!

Please, first of all, read the rest of this page!

Once you have read it through, and all is good & clear, feel free to contact one of our officers that you are interested and if you have any questions left! We will arrange from there.

Do you accept new players?

Yes! New roleplayers & people who are new to the game are always welcome and we are happy to help them to get into everything! We also have a list of guides and other helpful sources which we share on demand!

Do you accept only Vulpera?

Not at all! The Edict accepts all races - as long as the potential member is interested in the Edict's goal & would make sense to be a part of "Edict found-family".

However, if you want to join as a character of more "powerful by default" races and backgrounds (like dragons), your character's "powerlevel" would still need to be balanced, relative to others.

For example, a young whelp who can't do much more in battle compared to a trained mage, should probably be fine. An ancient wyrm who can potentially burn a small town while flying over it - likely not.

But what is the Edict's goal?

The Edict aims to explore Azeroth mysteries and make it a better place for people living in it - while also upholding Vulperan values, which include:

As long as your character's values align with these, the goals of the Edict sound good to you and your character gets along with others in the Edict, they would be welcome to join it!

Can I join the Edict as (insert X class)?

A short answer would be yes - if the Edict's goals and principles can be applied to your character (read the question above). However, there may be potential complications for some of professions. For example:

The points above aren't strict guidelines in -any- measure - and if you aren't sure that your character would fit, ask one of officers & we will discuss details! To us the main things are -how- the character uses their power - and nuance is important!

What about faction loyalists? Are they accepted?

Unfortunately, no, as we are a neutral guild and we therefore cannot accept members who are staunch supporters of either the Alliance or the Horde.

Members of other neutral factions, whose goals are in line with the Edict ones, such as Cenarius Circle or Timewalkers, are accepted, however!

Wait, the Edict is neutral? What does that mean? How can you be both Horde and Alliance?

This means that we do not take part in Alliance vs Horde wars AND that we accept all the races - both Alliance & Horde ones!

All guilds work cross-faction for a few years at this point - and we also use [Elixir of Tongues] to understand opposite faction /say and /emote. Thanks to [Cross RP addon] we also can see profiles of the opposite faction. Don't forget to grab those if you want to join our rp!

This also means that most of the time we roleplay at the locations which are available for -both- Horde and Alliance. Sometimes we go to faction specific locations but that doesn't make a huge part of roleplay - and we make sure that all storyline events happen at a location available for everyone!

Do I have to get along with -everyone- in the Edict at all times?

From an IC point of view - we do not expect you to be "fine" with everything and everyone - and disagreements & clashes of personality make an interesting roleplay!

However, these are things you should keep in mind:

From OOC point of view - we expect you to be kind, polite, and respectful to each other at all times. If you have any problem with anyone or anything in the guild, please address it to us officers first! We are here to listen & support.

Do you do any content, like raids or PvP?

Some of our members do, and we also gather for transmog runs (or similar stuff) if anyone needs to get anything! However, we don't have any dedicated raid or pvp groups and it isn't a priority in any measure to us.

This also means that we don't accept social players. If you want to join the guild, it should be because you want to roleplay with us and that you have a character who would be a good addition to the Edict.

What do you do during expeditions? Or during RP in general?

Depends on what is going on exactly and what are our characters' goals! Possible activities range from (but not limited!) exploring and negotiations to puzzle solving and combat.

Roleplay during any other time heavily depends on what our characters are up to at the moment - and this can often take unexpected routes!

You can read more about our rp and what you can expect at the page here!

I have heard your members talking in weird languages or mention things I couldn't find on Wowwiki, what's that?

The main storyline events often involve things which aren't strictly connected to WoW canon and feature "homebrewed" factions and phenomena - while also staying in line what -is- stated as true to the world.

For example, an island which is habitated by humans who have developed their own culture, language and worship Elemental Lords isn't a stretch in any measure to us - but treating Void or Fel -not- as highly corruptive & dangerous forces would be.

The said "homebrew lore" would also be something for your character to investigate and ask questions about - and our characters most of time will be happy to "infodump"!

The same attitude is applied to your characters as well! If you have found a creative way to treat WoW lore inconsistences which makes sense and doesn't directly contradict major lore points (i.e. ancient night elf born in Darnassus), all the power to you!

Do you have any time requirements?

We do not, everyone has lives and things to attend to, after all!

What we ask, however, is that if you do decide to join the guild, it is because you do wish to be a part of the community with us and join our roleplay when you are able to!

Are there any required addons or items?

Yes, there are a few! These below are non-optional addons & items that we need in order to RP together seamlessly.

These are things you should have if you wish to join our RP to get full Edict experience!

I have seen an Edict member in the wild, approached them and asked for interview, when can I have the interview?

Please, read the question below! The most important thing is for us & our characters to learn you & your character well and it might take a while to learn each other (and definitely not the first meeting)!

I have read everything and have no questions, invite me!

Not so fast, sorry!

Before setting an "official interview", we like to roleplay with potential members a few times. This is to see if our roleplaying styles mesh with each other and if our characters would make sense to be a part of one "Edict caravan" and "vibe" with each other in general.

The shop hours are generally a good time to meet our characters - and feel free to approach us if you see us in a hub!

If you see us elsewhere in the world, I suggest you to /w one of us to check if it is possible to approach us at this moment. For example, sometimes we use zone as a "placeholder" for another place - or we are simply in a middle of combat or at heavily guarded area.

In addition to that, I recommend you to add one of us, officers, in discord. This is so we can ask you questions if any arise and let you know when we gather at a place your character can join!

For more detailed description how it works, please look through Recruitment page!

I am not sure I understand how ranks works...

Please, check the page here for more details and potential questions you may have!

That's a long list of frequently asked questions, you know?

Yes and I'll be sad if you ask questions covered here or I figure out that you still haven't read them otherwise...

(My elite dracthyr team will DESTROY anyone who asks a question that's on the FAQ)

I still haven't found an answer to my question in the list...

Ask it to one of us, officers! We are always happy to help!
