Below is a chart describing the Edict rank system in more detail - and what each of ranks stands for.
Having a specific rank doesn't mean that this is the only thing your character would be able to - a Stave doesn't need to heal only, or a Guardian or Trailmaker can help with healing if they are able to. Likewise, an Artisan could take part in expeditions if they wish to (and are ready for the danger) or any of the expedition members ranks can help at the shop and provide their goods in their free time. In fact, helping each other in duties is heavily encouraged.
Those who lead the Edict. Equal to one another, they figure out the course of the Meridian Edict and lead them to the expeditions, while treating the Edict members with respect regardless of their skills and position, never expecting them to follow orders blindly.
Any expedition carries the risk of injury, especially with the certain approaches the Edict takes to certain obstacles. The Staves of the Edict act as healers.
Pay: 17 gold per month
Strong guards who are sworn to defend the weak, the Guardians of the Edict take the focus of aggression in combat scenarios.
Pay: 17 gold per month
The pathfinders of the Edict's expeditions into new lands and territories, often needing to face difficult challenges as well as bartering diplomacy.
Pay: 15 gold per month
In order to be accepted into one of the three ranks above, a Newcomer, Artisan, or Companion would have to prove themselves by helping the expeditions efforts - and to pass the trial set by one of the Caravan Council members and another member of the role the newcomer wishes to be.
Those who just joined the Edict and wish to prove themselves as full fledged members.
If they are willing and interested, they are assigned another Edict member as their mentor, to help them with adjusting to the Edict, to help them with training, if needed, and to see what they should pay more attention to.
Pay: 7 gold per month
The Edict's crafters, and the faces of the Solstice Bazaar. They provide their crafts and services to not only the guild, but sell them through the Bazaar to the general public.
Pay: 9 gold per month
Those who don't take part in expeditions regularly - but are still the Edict members and assist them where they can.
Pay: 8 gold per month
Next for you is to join the Edict expeditions as any of the other members of the Edict! The best way to prove yourself is to follow the expeditions efforts and let everyone know you better
Once there is a time for the trial, you and your character will be told when and how it happens. You will not be limited in any kind of activities just before you haven't passed your trial yet.
This means that your character, if you and an existing member are willing and interested, could be assigned a mentor, who would help them with adjusting to the Edict, to train them in the ways of the rank they are willing to be and to see what they should pay more attention to.
This is an optional system and you don't have to have a mentor to be in the Edict.
P.S. If you ever have a problem with a mentor OOC, we would like you to bring up this to one of the officers, the same as with any other conflicts. We are here to support and listen!
The trial will happen after some time of your character being present and assisting the Expedition efforts when the Caravan Council deems appropriate - and will be set individually for them, with regards to their strong sides and flaws.
Yes, you can! The process will depend on the context, and might require another trial to check your character's insistence and what they may have to pay attention on if they want to have this role as their main "duty".
Of course! Moreover, you are encouraged to do it! You can both help us with dealing with customers and add stuff your character would make, to the shop!
Note: Expedition member ranks here are referred to Newcomer, Stave, Guardian and Trailmaker
After you have joined the Edict officially, going through recruiting process as described here, we would need you to give a descriptions of the goods and services your character would be able to provide to both the Edict and the Bazaar for us to add them to the website. After it is done, your character will be considered full-pledged Artisan!
Not at all! Your character is Edict member before everything and they can do and join everything all other members would be able to!
The expeditions, however, are often dangerous, so your character should be ready for that - and ask others to train them if they need!
The caravanner rank is for people who don't join expeditions regularly or provide their servises as Artisan for any reason - but still wish to be the part of the Edict.
They can still help any of the members when they are able to with and when they can - including joining the Expeditions and supplying things for the Bazaar!
Yes, your character would! You would get the amount of money on the last friday of each month and would depend on your rank. Check the descriptions above this page for the amount your character would get!
There also may be additional sourсes of income or ways to change your payment, but your character would have to find out that IC!
