Price Action - Support & Resistance with Volume Profile

Support and resistance are the backbone of price action trading — the zones where buying and selling pressure converge, reverse, or stall. Identifying these levels with precision is what separates reactive trading from anticipatory trading.

Price Action — Support & Resistance by DGT goes beyond traditional level detection by combining four independent analytical layers into a single, cohesive toolkit.

Consecutive Volume & Price Structure

Detects sequential bullish or bearish bar patterns backed by rising volume or consistent directional price movement. When three or more consecutive candles align with volume participation above the baseline average, the indicator marks the corresponding price extreme as a potential support or resistance level — dynamically extending as price evolves.

Volume Spike — Exhaustion Signal

Unusually high volume relative to the baseline often marks the final push of a move — a sign of exhaustion rather than continuation. The indicator identifies these events using a configurable threshold multiplier and marks both the high/close or low/close levels depending on bar direction, giving traders a precise reference for potential reversal zones.

High Volatility Detection

ATR-based expansion signals highlight bars where the trading range significantly exceeds recent average volatility. These impulsive moves often define key structural levels — breakout origin points, liquidity sweeps, or institutional activity zones — and are marked automatically with configurable line levels.

Volume & Sentiment Profile

A full volume profile built from lower timeframe data, automatically selected to maximize distribution accuracy within the lookback range. The profile reveals where the majority of trading activity occurred, highlighting high-volume nodes as value areas and low-volume nodes as potential supply and demand gaps.

The sentiment overlay adds a second dimension — showing buying versus selling dominance at each price level, giving context to whether a zone was driven by accumulation or distribution.

Key profile elements include Point of Control (POC), Value Area High and Low, Developing POC tracking, and Supply & Demand zone highlighting for low-volume gaps.

Volume-Weighted Bar Coloring

Price bars are colored based on their volume relative to the moving average baseline — dark green and dark red for high-participation bars, aqua and orange for low-participation bars — making it immediately clear when a move is backed by conviction or lack thereof.

Smart Lower Timeframe Logic

The volume profile dynamically selects the optimal lower timeframe based on the lookback length, ensuring the profile always has sufficient data resolution without exceeding TradingView's security request limits.
