Ø Timeline and schedule lessons
· Capstone project is a basic fundamental foundation that incorporates many lessons for future experience as an instance leading a team forward, working efficiently and collaboratively with partner, make sure to follow time, scope, cost and etc.
· Team learned an important lesson on contingency fund is it always reduces the risk of overruns to allowable level. While testing arduino for trial attempt it got short due to faulty jumpers. As we can noticed in figure (I), we already had a pair of arduino in our budget as a contingency reserve.
· Secondly, we never looked up for components in advance thus we ended up falling behind the scheduled timeline. Hereby we need to pace up to achieve the end result.
Ø Project management lessons
· EVA – The EVA calculations was a good learning experience for both of us. We learned the relationship between budgets, actual cost and earned value as well as we calculated CPI and SPI too.
· Gantt chart- Preparing Gantt was a challenge for us, as we never used MS project in past. Herby we got to learned it in the project.
· Scope Statement- It allows us to describe what is actual objective and benefits. Scope statement package describes the deliverables of project, as it is easy for a user to know what is project meant for and how it would work.
Ø Technical lessons learned
Chirag Shah:
· This project for me was one the best opportunities to work in a team and to learn immensely. I learned to connect components and assemble by following the circuit. To wire components on breadboard is safest way to examine the functions, because it is not easy to change components once it is been soldered on printed circuit board.
· I also made prototype of E-Street and configured entire circuit on it to make sure it looks like implemented on actual street. I also measured voltage and current rating while testing the functions to monitor that it provides constant power to arduino.
Harsimran Singh:
· My responsibility was to order and receive parts on time, therefore I had hard time while deciding the ratings of components as we were not aware about the solar output.
· I also used Tinkercard circuit simulation software to design the circuit. It was my first experience so I had to learn it from grassroots to apply in project.
· One of the probable risk was to program arduino, it is key and CPU of system. Arduino itself is used to execute commands as an output. Although I had basic knowledge of arduino programming language in past so I volunteered to undertake and learn arduino programming.
