Adding a graphic image, or banner, to your course is a great option to incorporate a visual addition to your course. Your banner can be an image only or you can combine graphics with text to create a banner that is both informative as well as visually appealing. See our example below.
Banners can help students quickly distinguish your course from all the other courses they are taking and can give your course it's own personality that students will associate with the banner every time they access your Canvas course. Images can be embedded in Canvas anywhere the Rich Content Editor is present, so no matter if you are using a Syllabus or Content Page as your Canvas course Home Page, you can add a course banner both.
You can use various programs to create a Banner image to use in this process. In our materials, we suggest using Microsoft PowerPoint, as this program is available to all UNC Greensboro Faculty. But you could always use another program, such as Google Draw or Canva.com, a great web-based tool for creating graphics. While there are many options to choose from for creating your graphic, I strongly suggest that you always choose what you feel the most comfortable with and what works best for you!
