Due to their elusive nature and remote habitat, it is estimated that 4,000 to 6,500 snow leopards live in the wild. The IUCN’s Red List classified snow leopards as Vulnerable. 

Snow leopards' biggest threat are humans. Threats like poachers, loss of habitats, and loss of natural prey are the greatest threats. 

Groups like The Snow Leopard Trust are working to improve the understanding of snow leopards' behaviors, their needs and their habitats.
