The Lion is a venue for various activities (poetry readings & potlucks at present) by St. Mark's on Campus for the Downtown Lincoln & UNL communities. While St. Mark's is a church, this (at The Lion) is about our neighbors, not religion.
A Winter view of St. Mark's on the Campus, from "R" Street, with the snow accentuating The Lion in the courtyard.
Welcome to "at The Lion" -- a free, public "affinity group" intended to support community interactions among those who choose to attend. Affinity groups focus on some common aspect in their lives in these cases (1) poetry & the arts or (2) larger community interconnectivity. Our intent is simply to meet and perhaps get to know our neighbors.
Again. the venue opens its doors at 5:30 pm on the 2nd Friday of each month for poetry readings from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, and the doors close promptly at 8:00 pm. The same is true for Pot Luck Possibilities on the 4th Friday of each month.
Doors open at 5:30 PM, the relevant activities begin at 6 PM, and the doors close at 8 PM.

No one will approach you about participation in the church --
you will only be treated as a neighbor.
Below are schedules for activities, or select “Featured Poets” or “Potlucks” in the drop-down menus above.
At the bottom of this page you will see a map to our location at 1309 R street, Lincoln, NE, at St. Mark's On the Campus Episcopal Church -- the one with the sculpture of the Lion in the courtyard the Lion being the heraldic figure for the city of Venice, which embraced St. Mark the Evangelist as its Patron Saint.
