The Minerals Education Coalition (MEC) is the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Foundation’s designated program to develop and deliver accurate and timely K-12 education materials and activities and conduct public awareness outreach about mining and minerals.
Use this samples to study minerals. In some cases, there are two examples of the mineral. To use, click on the image of the mineral, zoom in and out, move around the 3D model to get a good sense of the mineral and its typical distinguishing characteristics.
OpenTopography facilitates access to topography data, tools and resources to advance our understanding of the Earth’s surface, vegetation, and built environment. We provide web-based access to high-resolution (meter to sub-meter scale), regional and global (2-90 m resolution) topography data acquired with lidar, radar and photogrammetry technologies.
