I haven't read the six of crows yet, but I plan to! For now I've only read the trilogy and watched the tvshow as well as planned this with @retrograderesemblance.
I will rp with canon divergent Darkling rpers who would like to explore a redemption story or who have different headcanons that I can work with (because I find the character incredibly interesting, but I don't want to write Emma out of character, and if he's using Alina through the Stag amplifier then obviously Emma will not be getting coffee with him any time soon. If you see him as willing to change direction, then we can totally come up with something!)
FULL NAME: princess Emma Blanchard-Nolan (Known also as Swan, friendly-derogatory). Sometimes hides behind the name Anna.
AGE: verse dependent but generally 30+.
Status: grisha but weird, will be explained in the backstory
PARENTS: queen Mary Margaret Blanchard and king David Nolan of Mysthaven, she adores them / step-grandma is a tyrant and after her.
PHYSICAL MARKS: many scars. Notable ones: a knife one on the back and hip (courtesy of a fwb who from was trying to steer her away from his criminal activities) a bullet one on the left side that wasn't professionally patched up. A longer one on her chest because of a hitman sent by her step-grandma to take her heart. Old burn scar all along her spine.
NOTES: constantly Doing Things / bit of an attention deficit (not ADHD) / occasional devastating 24hours migraines // Specialized in hand-to-hand combat and fighting groups of people // can tell when lied to if not emotionally involved
Triggering content ahead, meant to replicate some of the horrors Emma goes through in canon and their consequences, to balance how this Emma has had a family and support for her whole life and mirror what she thought happened with Neal and what actually happened with Walsh: at 16 she gets into a relationship with a conman named Arian, therefore her consent is questionable (she initiated sex, but under the illusion he loved her), with severe emotional abuse involved, and after he leaves several months of depression follow (now gone). See rules for details if you aren't sure you can handle it but it's pretty much the same as for her modern verse, except he found a job at the stables to keep close to the princess.
After this Arian ran off with a little treasure because he was about to get caught by her parents and she fell into depression, her peculiar powers manifesting only then (they'll be addressed below). She never romantically dated again and is still very scared of being left by someone or, worse, submitting to them too, so instead she had lots of hook ups and no strings attached after that. She's trying to find Arian so she can arrest him - or something else.
She's a bubbly adult outside of that, who believes in giving everyone a chance, cheerful, shameless, affectionate, prone to violence, so chatty that it's easy to only say what she wants to and keep the rest to herself without people easily noticing. She volunteers a lot, especially if there are tasks that involve children since she loves them, but also going after criminals all over the continent (while trying to avoid the Fold); she shields herself from romantic feelings by upping her friendliness and flirting a LOT so that people will stop at that and not want more (if they do, she's terrified to the point of panic, just like she's triggered by situations that remind her of her past).
Therefore any first attempt at romance will initially be a Greek tragedy since she doesn't want to be loved nor to be in love because sure the man will inevitably realize she's not good enough and she feels too weak to handle another loss after her first. If he convinces her she is enough for him, it will take time for her to learn to trust it to be true but she'll also unleash all the cute-feelsy sentiments she has repressed for years
She's reckless, will do all sorts of dumb things; she's not unbeatable because I don't like writing overpowered characters but she is very, very skilled and experienced, fighting is basically her thing. She gets attached to people right away, uses LOTS of petnames and gives physical affection unless asked not to. Her white knight tendencies and being aware of having a lot of privilege and that she's not held as accountable as others means that she ends up being in grey areas most of the time, and her instincts are to punish the bad guys even when it goes against the law/rules or let people run away from the police if they had a good reason to break the law, basically acting as a judge.
As I said before, Emma was a princess from a made up land, Mysthaven, west of Kenst Hjerte, and in her own canon she's the protagonist and basically can do anything with her magic, but I don't want to steal Alina's powers nor place, so to reflect the fact that Emma is canonically the personification of "true love", "the hero", "the savior", she still has a special power that comes from her bloodline, similar to/overlapping with heartrender abilities but more powerful: she can control the chemicals in someone's brain and produce the emotions/feelings she wants, which includes giving or hiding physical pain, exhaustion and other sensations as such. Touching the person amplifies it, but it's not always necessary - HOWEVER there is a catch: the way she manipulates chemicals goes to mess with her brain too. If she takes away someone's pain, she will feel it. If she's giving someone happiness, she'll feel as sad as they are happy and vice versa. If she's giving them calm, she'll feel anxiety. The more she gives, the more she feels, the longer she makes them feel it, the longer she feels it too. In a way, she's her own amplifier and her power grows with her emotions. She can make people feel love, but not make them fall in love with a specific person, just feel the general emotion.
Her step-grandmother Regina, known as the Evil Queen of their land, has a similar power, but in her case she can only cause negative emotions (to reflect her canon position and her relationship with Emma). Mysthaven accepts Grisha while suspicious and usually doesn't send them to the Little Palace, but its people have exhausted their patience for Grisha royalty after the first and last queen who became their tyrant: Regina herself.
Her skills only manifested after her ex, Arian, emotionally tore her apart (in this universe he became a servant at castle to gain access to her), and she initially had no control on them just like she had none on her emotions, so it became immediately clear that her people wouldn't accept taking such a risk again. So Emma, after somewhat overcoming her depression and training both physically and power-wise to feel stronger and more in control, decided to leave the throne to avoid a needless war, and let her parents choose a different successor, if that was what her people wanted.
She's an adventurer, not a fugitive, but being recognized as the Princess Grisha can be a problem, so while she doesn't exactly hide her identity she's living nearly like a regular person (aside from having more money). She doesn't use her powers on people without their consent unless it's a life or death situation, whether she intends to help them or she's fighting some ordinary criminal (she'll just punch, kick and stab her way out of it.)
But she does use her powers and excessive force when dealing with abusers (and other figures who commit crimes that won't get them arrested, either because they scare or pay off their victims) to the point of torturing them. At first it only happened every now and then, it's easier to learn about these situations when around criminals all the time, but then it became a thing, and now she's more of a vigilante pro-bono than anything else.
