FULL NAME: Emma Blanchard Nolan
AGE: verse dependent but generally 30+.
JOB: bounty hunter/vigilante?
SPECIALTIES: Unarmed, melee, charming people.
PHYSICAL MARKS: many scars. Notable ones: a knife one on the back and hip (courtesy of a fwb who from was trying to steer her away from his criminal activities) a bullet one on the left side that wasn't professionally patched up. A longer one on her chest because of a hitman sent by her step-grandma to take her heart. Her back was messed up by a Deathclaw.
NOTES: constantly Doing Things / bit of an attention deficit (not ADHD) / occasional devastating 24hours migraines // Specialized in hand-to-hand combat and fighting groups of people // can tell when lied to if not emotionally involved
Triggering content ahead, meant to replicate some of the consequences of the horrors Emma goes through in canon: at 16 she gets into a relationship with a conman named Arian, therefore her consent is questionable (she initiated sex, but under the illusion he loved her), with severe emotional abuse involved, and after he leaves several months of depression follow (now gone). See rules for details if you aren't sure you can handle it but it's pretty much the same as for her modern verse.
She's a bubbly adult outside of that, who believes in giving everyone a chance, cheerful, shameless, affectionate, prone to violence, so chatty that it's easy to only say what she wants to and keep the rest to herself without people easily noticing. She shields herself from romantic feelings by upping her friendliness and flirting a LOT so that people will stop at that and not want more (if they do, she's terrified to the point of panic, just like she's triggered by situations that remind her of her past). She also sleeps around like a champ, even if I fade to black, but that's not so much trauma as much as her simply finding it fun.
[Therefore any first attempt at romance will initially be a Greek tragedy]
She's reckless, will do all sorts of dumb things; she's not unbeatable because I don't like writing overpowered characters but she is very, very skilled and experienced, fighting is basically her thing. She gets attached to people right away, uses LOTS of petnames and gives physical affection unless asked not to. Her white knight tendencies and being aware of having a lot of privilege and that she's not held as accountable as others means that she ends up being in grey areas most of the time, and her instincts are to punish the bad guys even when it goes against the law/rules or let people run away from the police if they had a good reason to break the law, basically acting as a judge.
Her parents Mary Margaret and David lived in Vault 42 until the overseer, Regina, decided it was time to kill Mary, who happened to be her step-daughter, and despite the fact that her parents had barely just met, they chose to escape to the surface together. Love at first sight. The Vault was opened not long after and is basically run by Regina and her own gang of criminals; she's still trying to kill Mary and her family.
On the surface, Emma is raised in the weirdest mix of Vault morals (very similar to Lucy's) and surface survival skills. She still falls prey to the conman as said before, since her parents managed to become rich due to good luck (and her mother having stolen everything she could from the Vault before leaving). Her personality is still the bubbly affectionate one as a grown up, like in all other verses, but had to adapt to the wasteland, with lots of humor (unless she's dealing with enemies, and then it's 90% violence) and shrugging off the violence.
She's a bounty hunter/vigilante (thug for hire). Sometimes she arrests people for the bottlecaps that she'll give away (her parents opened a casino and a medical facility and are still earning a lot of money), other times she kills/arrest to protect people who can't fight back.
When getting revenge on behalf of others she tries to permanently destroy/break bodies and/or scare to death (depends on what crimes were committed). She feels having rules is a must, even if they are very basic. She is looking for the man who nearly broke her. She's built a fake terrifying persona using the fact that she was found near some gruesome sites and took 'credit/blame' for them, when in reality it was monsters or mutants who did it, because having a very scary reputation is very helpful in a world like that, where people may hesitate to draw their guns at her (but she happens to also be a beast when on a mission, so the fake part is more about how many people she's killed or even having cut some to pieces and the like).
Some extra details:
-she's got a "lucky" pistol and what is basically a giant kitchen knife strapped to her back, but her best is still hand-to-hand combat (a nod to both fantasy and modern Emma), HIGH strength and agility, not so high perception and intelligence
-her ACCENT is the southern (Alabama) one she was meant to have in modern verses if she hadn't gone to elocution lessons, living in the Wasteland tends to make it even more noticeable. She swears a lot more in this verses while in all others she tends to save that for when it fits, but she's also kept her thing of using lots of petnames with people.
-she's definitely losing herself into the 'punishing bad guys' thing but would be so easily swayed back into doing better by a good person OR by a bad person (because she'd fight back against it and she is trying to protect victims who can't protect themselves)
-her teeth and hair scream 'money' because no way any normal surface dweller has them so well maintained. You can find her fighting mutans and monsters just as easily as playing in a casino or dancing or picking up a stranger at the bar or playing with children. Or, you know, cutting someone's limbs in a dark alley as a payback.
