meant for shows with dragons, witches, curses, etc (with reasonable changes depending on the fandom, obviously if we are writing her in BG3 there is no Snow White, on the other hand I don't see why Snow White can't be real in the Witcher universe and simply on another Sphere/parallel world).
Examples: Disney, The Witcher (let me know if you'd rather just interact with an Emma born in their universe who already knows what witchers are, and I'll adapt), Dragon Age (she's from outside Thedas and was traveling when she bumped into the Mess and decided to help), BG3 (she's from Mysthaven, near Baldur's Gate, she can join as a companion at any point), LOTR (she's from beyond the sea), and so on. Also added a Loki serie variation below.
The canon tvshow doesn't happen in this AU because the canon timeline was changed and canon Emma Swan was raised to be this new character here, one born and raised in the land of fairy tales by loving parents. Sure, the real show can make appearances, given that my princess Emma was meant to be a Savior in canon and have an equally important son (she's basically this show's Chosen One) but the canon plot didn't happen for her, so eventually she'll start getting memories and instincts from the real Emma, but it's all explained in text so knowing the real show is unnecessary.
Here canon Emma changed the show's past (if you do know OUAT, she did it when she told Rumple that his son would die; he decided to not let the curse happen) and this is what happened next.
Note: her son Henry wasn't born in this AU but he will be brought back by magic (at the end of my long-term arc for her), Emma simply doesn't know that and will come to believe him 'dead or worse than dead' for a while.
FULL NAME: Emma of the White Kingdom. Known also as Swan (ever seen an angry swan attack?) and Princess Charming (also ironic but affectionate).
FAMILY: Snow White and David 'Prince Charming' are her parents (very different from the classic fairy tales, they met when Snow robbed him ), no siblings. The dwarves are like uncles and her 'aunts' in this universe are Red Riding Hood and Mulan (married), as well as Ella (Cinderella) and "uncle" Thomas. Their daughter Alexandra is like a sibling to her (as is Grace, the Mad Hatter's daughter, and Pinocchio)
AGE: younger than 32 by default, if she's not gone 'dark'. Looks a bit older due to JMO being older than her character in the first place.
SCARS: has many scars, hidden by clothes or makeup whenever possible. One that 'stings' is right above her hip and one is on the back, from someone who pretended to be a friend (and was a friend with benefits). Then there is the burn along her spine from the dragon, the rest of her back was fixed by magic but that dragon's fire couldn't be fully healed. One over her heart because one of Regina's men nearly succeeded at ripping her heart out when she was less experienced but already out fighting.
Any of your fantasy characters can find her wandering and heroing in their fandom's universe, since she has many magical means to travel and make that happen, whether by portal opened by magic beans or the Mad Hatter's hat. Or Mysthaven could simply be a country near your muse's. This is the main-general-normal princess Emma, pre-dark princess.
Future queen of a very rich kingdom (of a land where fairy tales are real, from our point of view). If she's not 32 yet, she presents herself as almost a caricature of the Dumb Jock Hero mixed with a very affectionate and caring woman. She's of course written as a real person with depths, but doesn't always show it right away. She will have anachronistic responses that will partly come from suppressed memories of our world. Very open-minded and wants people to speak their minds as well, very pro-love, very into believing in people until proven otherwise, also okay with killing people when needed. Peak Dumbass. She loves her adventures and sword-fighting but she also loves being a princess who goes to balls and overworks to take care of her kingdom. Who says you can't wear an armor and have a beer and then quickly go home to change into a beautiful dress and spend one hour on your hair?
This can be triggering so make sure you check the rules to see if you are okay discussing this: had an emotionally abusive first love named Arian who manipulated her to 'tame her' and win a bet, until he confessed everything out of guilt (but only after they slept together); she fell into depression right after and took time to recover but never fully did from the trauma, and is terrified of being submissive and broken by a man again so she jumps into hookups and runs from romance.
[I won't often write nsfw but check the rules for what happens offscreen.]
Her timeline was changed to make this happy fairy-tale life happen ( she was supposed to grow up in the real world and become the Savior who rescued the rest of her world from a curse that also dragged them here, but her past was changed by Rumplestiltskin who wanted to avoid his son's death, and in doing so he erased her son Henry, her true love; both of them were extremely important to their timeline so that is a big problem). She keeps getting closer to remembering who she was meant to be and to have her mind be wrecked by the clashing memories and general magic. To keep her from going all Revenge-y over the timeline changing, the fairies have started giving her memory potions to suppress everything that is trying to come up, letting her believe the nightmares and chronic pains (and initial depression) where all about her broken heart and not the life she was meant to have, and telling her potions are painkilling teas.
She believes that if true love can break any curse then a broken heart can also make you literally sick. And of course Emma keeps her chronic pains hidden as much as possible, both to hide the trauma that caused them (everyone has been told that Arian fell out of love, only her best friend Grace knows because she bumped on Emma right after the breakup) and because a future queen can't be thought 'mad' or sick, but the symptoms are getting worse.
She remembers what true pain feels like, so she tries to be (and make people) as happy as they can be.
If you meet her at this time she will be all kinds of friendly and possibly flirty, all hero-like and fun, but her time is running out.
In fact at age 32 the dark princess verse starts, she'll remember everything that she was meant to be anyway, because that's the age when she was meant to become THE Dark One in the right timeline (basically the devil of the show) and she'll go nearly full Evil-Witch, in the sense of wanting revenge on the current Dark One who changed the timeline, on the fairies who lied to her, and on those who come after her, but deep down she just wants her son back, but she knows she's gone forever and so everybody has to pay (spoiler: he's not gone).
If you meet her at this time it will be with her trying to pretend she's fully evil because it's safer to deal with everything that way, and it's her dark magic that somewhat keeps her from losing herself into all those messy memories; when she uses white magic to help people and the dark magic temporarily vanishes, she has to lock herself in the basement, out of control in every possible way, until slowly able to rebuild the wall the keeps her former lives separated. She was tortured by clerics who wanted to 'fix her' and that didn't help.
She also needs to keep acting evil because this way her enemies won't bother going after her former loved ones, not when she supposedly fell out of caring for them. She's the glacial dark princess who every now and then slips up and will mention positive things about love/hope (for others, she's short of those right now), or try to save people. She lives in her parents' summer palace with some of the loyal guards and a maid who chose to follow her there and is plotting destruction. If eventually she becomes the Dark One she's more manipulative and toxic, but given her special Savior role she will find the strength to want to sacrifice the dark curse and herself to make it disappear.
I just realized that dark princess Emma verse is the one I can easily adapt to the Loki series, because it relies on parallel universes, Emma being aware of their existence and having gone off of the canon path because of something that happened before she was born; it can so easily make her become a powerful variant because instead of becoming the Dark One, and then dying to end the curse, she could find Henry even if she's not supposed to (in Neverland, trapped as a sorta-ghost idea of what he was meant to be, and brought to solid form by her)
so she's brought to the TVA with her kid, and given her powers and the fact that she instinctively help with a difficult situation there. she's TEMPORARILY allowed to stay and fix a mess, kind of like what happened to Loki but on shorter leash, then the Loki situation happens and instead she's tasked to help them if she wants to see Henry. This to give her an excuse to interact with characters from the Loki serie.
Then she stays because Henry is safe there given that Loki and Mobius are pretty much in charge and she wants to help/save people, she has enough Savior memories and princess memories to use her dark magic for good, and refuse to go back to her 'goes FULLY evil and dies' path, plus Henry keeps urging her to do the right thing.
Once she went to fight a dragon without proper armor because she forgot it, too in a rush to get back to a town where some delicious pies were on sale. She failed and almost died, predictably. Has a horrible burn scar on her back from it, that couldn't be fully healed because of magical nature. Usually hidden by clothes.
Enchanted forest animals come to her when she sings (because she's a Disney princess).
She can tell when people are lying, if she's not overemotional (taken from canon).
She has a big black horse that she's named Apple because he was deadly when they first met (see the poisoned apple that was used against her mother). Now Apple still hates people and is scary, but at least doesn't hate her and responds to her orders. He may have magic in his blood.
Dark witch/Dark One Emma has a giant squid named Poppy in the small lake right behind the Summer Palace, two big chimeras in her stables, and another small one named The Devourer (Devy) who is free to go everywhere, since it happens to be a big bunny with bat wings and a lizard tongue. He can't fly but can float down after bouncing. Regular animals tend to fear her because of the dark magic that radiates from her.
v. dark witch (canon in this blog): anything set after her 32 birthday when she remembers everything and her brain shatters. Memories come and go constantly, her magic is out of control, she wants revenge and Henry back. She’s captured by clerics once, tortured, and after freeing herself she retires to the Summer Palace, with some loyal servants choosing to join her. She acts heartlessly with her old friends and people in general to avoid weakness (though she’s not great at keeping the act when people are in danger) and plots the fairies’ destruction and Rumplestiltskin’s ruin using memories from lives she hasn’t lived. She will join anyone who can get her what she wants. She also used dark magic to stitch her mind back together, reason why when she uses white magic she hurts herself tremendously.
v. white witch (potential): Emma learns she has magic and runs away from the castle, knowing her people will reject another ‘witch’ in charge, hiding and trying to use her magic to save people without getting too exposed. Obviously, as canon demands, she's incredibly powerful since her magic comes from True Love, the most powerful magic of her land, and is attuned to her very strong emotions. She is terrible at healing herself for this very reason, while it's very natural for her to do things for others.
v. dark one: (potential, automatic if she's not "changed" by whoever is with her when she's in her dark witch time) set after she takes the dagger and becomes Dark One in one way or another (Rumple might or might not be still alive and suffering if she found a way to transfer the darkness to herself). The fairies might or might not have been defeated. She’s more in control of her powers and memories. She's less in control of her impulses, more manipulative, more lost into quick satisfaction instead of long-term plans, sometimes feeling what the darkness wants and agreeing with it, other times, but more rarely, fighting it, since in this universe se took it willingly and became one with it. There is still a chance to be saved specifically because she has that 'particular' condition of having so many separated memories/personalities and being the product of true love (she's also ridiculously powerful because she's already the product of true love, which is the strongest magic, and the Dark One).
v. hope (canon in this blog): set after she finds out Henry can be brought back (through Neverland, magic or parallel worlds) and starts traveling to find what she needs for that to happen. She doesn’t publicize her identity to avoid trouble, but also because any enemy who finds out that she still cares about something might use it against her.
v. mother and believer (canon in this blog): set after Henry is born/brought back to her and Emma has retired from 'darkness', hiding from enemies and raising her son or, in verses where she got Henry back without going through a dark witch stage, is simply keeping him with her at the castle. Works also for verses in which she got pregnant in general even if she never got to turn evil and had Henry.
