About me: After working for over 45+ years, I retired from the San Diego Police Department in 2022 as a Payroll Supervisor. I also raised three daughters and at last count, I have ten grandchildren (the 2-legged kind LOL). My boyfriend, Steve, who also retired from the San Diego Police Department after 35 years as a Homicide Detective is a tremendous help to me with Lucy and Ricky's care. When I found Lucy, or as most dog owners usually say, when Lucy found me, I had already known that I loved the miniature schnauzers for their intelligence, cuteness, and their quirky traits to say the least. I've had other breeds in the past, including Miniature Schnauzers (MS), but there was something about this little girl, Lucy, that has brought me (and still does) so much happiness, she has been such a treasure that I knew I wanted to give others the same joy that I receive from her as my furry companion and member of my family.
Although I still consider myself a novice or hobby breeder, I am passionate about learning everything there is to know about becoming successful and being able to provide new puppy owners with a healthy puppy. I am continually reading about breeding and raising this breed and how to help new owners. I want to be able to give new owners (I lovingly call "Pawrents") the knowledge that I have obtained so that they too can have a healthy, long-life companion. I have also received valuable information provided to me from experienced professional breeders who have kindly mentored me throughout this process for which I am truly grateful. The Dam and Sire live with me and my puppies are birthed in my home where they are safely monitored in a clean and healthy environment.
My Breeding Values: I want to protect the integrity of breeding and in doing so, I increase the chances of those obtaining a puppy from me to add a healthy new furry member to their family. When you select a puppy from me, I am responsible for the health of every puppy prior to their departure to his/her new family. I am passionate about dogs, and I put my whole heart and soul into this. I will do all the necessary vaccinations and de-worming required before leaving my home into their new furever homes.
About this Breed: Schnoodles are quick to adapt. They make a great pet for the young as well as the elderly. Whether you live in the city or have room to run, these dogs will do well with someone that can provide them with moderate exercise and then afterwards, cuddle up with you on the couch.
About Lucy: When I purchased Lucy, I did not know until afterwards that Lucy had not been spayed. Upon learning this, I decided to have her Embark DNA and health tested because there would be no way I would breed her unless she was absolutely healthy. Lucy results came back, and she was cleared of ALL genetic health risks (see below for snapshot of her results). But upon receiving the results from Embark, I also learned that my precious Lucy was a Miniature Schnauzer (abbreviated "MS") mix. She is a MS and Poodle mix, making her a Schnoodle. Luckily though, for me, both MS and Poodles are Hypoallergenic and Non-Shedding. I then registered Lucy with the Continental Kennel Club (CKC) as a Schnoodle (Registration #52M05576128).
Update April 13, 2024: Sire (Ryker, now known as Ricky) previously owned by my mentor, was moving out of State and asked if I wanted to purchase Ricky. On April 13, 2024, Ricky became a member of our family, and we love him! Ricky is 100% Miniature Schnauzer, CKC and is also DNA and Health tested by his first owner (check out the Sire page under the "Our Dam" section for information about him and pictures).
Breeding is a responsibility and it's a lifestyle choice that I have made, and I am willing to devote and sacrifice my time to. To me, a dog is never "just a pet", it's my legacy, a little boy's best friend, a little girl's protector, an elderly person's therapy or furever companion, and of course, a member of your family!
As mentioned previously, both miniature schnauzers and poodle breeds (Schnoodles) are non-shedding and hypoallergenic, which is great for those who suffer from allergies. They make great loyal pets, smart, and are great companions for children, adults of all ages, and the elderly.
