It is important that you read and understand the information herein, as failing to read and understand the following information will likely result in a negative experience with the SLIAFF group. It is also important that you understand that the ability to recruit and request mutual aid in the SLIAFF group are privileges and the group and it's members are under no obligation to provide anyone with these privileges for any reason.
There is no expected or implied time frame for a Moderator or Admin to review your application, we are Volunteers and will get to them when we can. Pestering Mods and Admins will not get your application checked any faster. You must be the Director, Commissioner ,Chief ,Captain, Founder, or Sim Owner of an active department with a physical location or have someone in one of those positions expressed permission to apply for your department. A member of The Admin team may ask to speak with a sim owner, or the Chief to verify your permission to apply for recruitment privileges. The Admin team member will visit the region named on the application so spelling must be correct. They may also request a land mark (LM) to the location and will make a visit. The Admin team will also make frequent checks at the location to ensure your department is still active and our SLIAFF banner is visible inside or outside the station, so we must be able to access the parcel and/or sim. It is a requirement of the SLIAFF that every Department Delegate with notice abilities have a "boots on the ground" station, If your department is a rez as needed setup your application will not be approved. If your department changes in any-way you must fill out a change request right away to avoid revocation of your abilities within the group. Only one member from each department can become a Union Delegate and obtain notice privileges. A SLIAFF Delegate cannot be a Delegate for more than one Department. Sims with more than one of the same type department will be considered on a case by case basis, though most requests of this type are denied and will be forced to choose which department can send the notices. Departments who change location often, or listed information (i.e. Chief name, region name, moving stations from community to community etc.) may be placed on a 30 day cool down. If your department is placed into a cool down your application will be tabled for 30 days before being reconsidered. The purpose of this is to cut down on the high number of requests to the Volunteer staff of the SLIAFF for minor changes to be made to applicants information.

Requests for Mutual Aid will be made using the SLIAFF Group chat. Any member of SLIAFF can request mutual aid. There is no limit to departments being able to request mutual aid. Anyone found abusing the ability to call for mutual aid will face a ban from the group. The process for requesting mutual aid is detailed below.
Any group member may post in the group chat a request for mutual aid. The request shall contain the following information.
The type of incident
What is needed
Who to contact via PM
Open-rez or Need a group
Estimated scale of incident (how long do you suspect the incident will take to resolve)
Any member wishing to fill the mutual aid request shall PM the person in the posting
At that time the person may elect to accept and provided details or politely decline the offer for mutual aid
SLIAFF does not direct or require that mutual aid be accepted when offered
Example of a mutual aid request in chat:
XYZ Fire department requesting mutual aid for a structure fire. Request for 2 (HD) engines and a Truck. Incident will likely be 30+ minutes to resolve and you will need an open group to rez. Contact me (John Doe) to respond.
Any department wishing to take advantage of recruiting via SLIAFF must first apply for delegate status. Once approved delegates will have the ability to post 3 recruitment notices per week in the SLIAFF group.
Requirements:
A department must have an SLIAFF Banner posted in a public visible location at their station in-world.
Why? This is one of the ways SLIAFF promotes the group. People see our banners in world and may join the group. Additionally, it is a sign of solidarity and a symbol of pride for the organization.
A department must have a physical station on a Sim.
Why? At SLIAFF one of our primary missions is to support recruitment. We feel that members who can not find a sim to place a station should consider joining a department who has a station. Members who do not have physical stations have no restrictions regarding volunteering to respond to mutual aid calls. Additionally, see requirement #1 ... you need a place to hang a banner, as well as do training, host your own calls, etc.
