Mission

The mission of San Jose City College is to serve candidates and the larger community by offering high quality, relevant, and innovative instruction for basic skills, career pathways, university transfer, and life-long learning.

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Department has focused on melding its mission, values, and goals to the larger institution’s goals. The ECE Department strives to accomplish this by awarding certificates and associate degrees to eligible candidates taught in a multicultural environment where candidates’ achievement, and learning are highly valued, supported, and continually assessed.

Further education options are Bachelor's degree in Early Child Education and/or social worker. Upon completion of required units, our students can work in the Early Childhood Education field as teachers, teacher trainers, administrators, curriculum developers, and/or family child care providers. Many of our students continue to pursue a four-year degree in the field of Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
