About us

The ECE Department at San Jose City College offers hands on Early Childhood Education Program, which is grounded in current research and theories related to child development. 

The goal of the Early Childhood Education Program is to provide relevant, high quality instruction, services, professional development and pathways leading to careers that provide a strong educational foundation to young children and support services to families.

The department offers A.S.-T transfer degree, A.S. Degree and four certificates that align with early childhood permits. 

These are the pathways for transferring to four-year university, professional development and to permits in Early Childhood Education. 

We are NAEYC accredited program. Our current accreditation is valid from March 2021 until March 2028. 


“The AS and AS-T programs at San Jose City College  is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The current accreditation term runs from March 2021 through March 2028.”
