In general, I'm not entirely sure if we can accurately describe or characterize 21st century literature, the way we can with other periods. It's just too soon.
On the other hand, I think it's necessary to take a look at what we have so far for us to see where our culture is at and where it's probably going. So let's try to answer these questions:
What is 21st Century Literature anyway?
What makes something "21st Century"?
Still stumped after the video? Don't worry, I'm still getting to the answers (and I'm supposed to be the teacher!).
Let's keep pondering while reading two texts: one that gives us a glance of 21st Century Literature (written by our very own Ms. Millette), and another detailing how technology helps push for new ways of storytelling.
What do you think sets 21st Century Literature apart from those that preceded it?
What are the characteristics of our current literature?
And if you don't think you have read enough to be able to answer, try to make an intelligent guess. Given our context (in terms of politics, environment, social issues, etc.) what do you think are the dominant trends and themes?

With your groupmates, create a digital poster that describes Literature in the 21st Century. Give FIVE main descriptions (e.g., multi-modal, diverse, reflective, funny, weird, etc.) and elaborate on each in 3-5 sentences. Make sure you use clear graphics to support your descriptions and find a way to present it creatively and coherently.
Take a look at the rubric to see how you will be graded and please work together! I will get feedback from each of your group members to ensure everyone's participation. Below you will find some examples of posters that should serve as benchmarks of excellent work.
This is a well-executed poster because it has short titles and concise explanations.
The visuals are also funny.
Check out how the poster' main descriptors and the explanations revolve around the subject: students.
I appreciate the poster's neatness and clarity.
This last poster is great because of its professional polish and straightforward explanations.
Here are the best posters from the batch! They were an excellent mix of content and design. Take a look:
Poster by Andrada, Bagarinao, Causaren, and Tuliao
Poster by Alde, Loreto, Privado, and Mendoza
The two posters above have simple yet straightforward explanations. I also like the coherence of their design. If you take a look at the color scheme (especially in the "starry night" poster), it was followed in all the graphical elements, making the poster easy on the eye.
Even the other one (the one on graphing paper) used graphics with the same style. I also like how, despite the lack of a clear theme, the poster comes together really well.
Poster by Bagaporo, Evangelista, Muniz, and Quilatan
This is a great poster because of the comic theme that it adopts. From the graphics, to the font, there is coherence in the poster's design. The descriptions for 21st century literature are backed up by well-thought-out explanations.
Poster by Torresyap, Musngi, Dela Cruz, and Mallorca
I chose this poster because of the well-written and comprehensive explanations--short but complete!
