E-Portfolio
Hello, My name is Sivaranjani Sivakumar, and I’ve dedicated the last several years of my life to something that has always been close to my heart (food).
Not just the act of cooking or consuming it, but the stories behind it. The soil where it grows. The hands that harvest it. The care that goes into preserving its nutrition and taste. The memories tied to traditional recipes. And the systems that carry it from a local field in India to dinner tables across the world.
I come from a background where food was not just a daily necessity it was a way of life. Growing up in Tamil Nadu, I was surrounded by the scents, flavors, and rituals of Indian cooking. I learned about ingredients not from books, but from elders who spoke about their healing power, their seasonal wisdom, and their cultural importance. As a child, I saw how food connected people. As I grew older, I started to see the challenges behind it especially for those producing it.
This early exposure evolved into a career. Over the last six years, I’ve worked in the food production and export industry, gaining hands-on experience in quality control, warehouse operations, logistics, and product development. I’ve worked closely with farmers, distributors, manufacturers, and retailers and along the way, I’ve realized that I want to do more than just be part of the system. I want to improve it.
That’s what brought me here to Oxford Brookes University, where I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Management. This academic journey is helping me expand my vision. I’m learning how to lead teams, create sustainable supply chains, and apply ethical management practices all tools I plan to use in building something bigger: a food system that is sustainable, ethical, inclusive, and rooted in culture.Currently working part-time at Sainsbury’s, gaining real-world food retail and customer service experience in the UK.
This portfolio is a reflection of my journey so far and the journey I’m still on. It’s a space where I’ve shared my education, my work, my dreams, and the values that drive me. Whether you’re an employer, a collaborator, a fellow student, or someone who shares a passion for food systems and sustainability, I invite you to explore my story.
Because for me, this isn’t just a career. It’s a purpose.
