Cervical Spine

The vast majority of cervical spine imaging is performed for trauma patients. We want you to be familiar with the basics of cervical spine pathology and image findings.

First, review the basic criteria for when you need to get a C-Spine CT. The NEXUS (National Emergency X-ray Utilization Study) and CCR (Canadian C-spine rule) are the two most popular tools to guide decision to scan. (This is important!!)


Then, review this video from the “learning radiology” series dedicated to medical students. You can speed up the playback rate. (C-spine can be particularly tedious to learn, so this is probably the least painful way to learn this.)
