The 2026 growing season is fast approaching, and we’ll be READY!
The first round of plot assignments were processed on February 2, and Membership Agreements were sent out to all applicants. We still have some plots and climbing beds available. The drawing below shows assigned spaces in blue. We'll try to keep the drawing updated weekly.
Here below is an easy online form to apply for your plot. Use a Chrome browser for best results. Instructions for filing a paper application form are also posted on this page.
Paper Application: A paper application may be downloaded and printed, or picked up at the library. Mail paper copies and payment checks to Joel Hanson, 417 Arrowhead, Sitka, (907-738-1033). Make checks out to Sitka Community Gardens. Square, Venmo and PayPal also accepted, although we pay a processing fee. Cash accepted too. Call Joel, or Barb (738-3557) with questions about e-payments or to pay cash or hand deliver a check.
As of February 3, there are still 15 plots plus 5 climbing beds available for the 2026 season. The sooner you apply, the more likely you are to get a spot!
The SCGA Steering Committee met the first week of February to assign plots to the 1st round of applicants. These applicants have been notified of their assignments by email. We will continue to accept applications going forward until all garden spaces are full, and then we'll start building a waitlist. Keep an eye on this space for updates.
All applicants must acknowledge receipt of an emailed Membership Agreement form, and must pay assessed plot fees before improvements may be made to assigned garden space(s). If an applicant fails to acknowledge receipt of the form, and if they fail to submit the assessed fee, their application will be invalidated. Fees for 2026 are $55 per standard 10ft by 20ft plot and $10 per standard 2ft by 8ft plot for tall plants (think trellised pea vines or sunflowers.)
Required Reading: Operating Rules for Gardeners. The Jarvis Street Community Garden is intended to operate as a cooperative venture where garden members are entitled to garden space assignments, but are also obligated to perform a modest number of service hours of work to benefit the overall project operations and maintenance. (8hrs per season per plot, 2hrs per season per climbing bed) The Operating Rules cover the details of membership and general garden policy.
Required Meeting: An offsite in person pre-season orientation meeting will be held on March 21 at the Harrigan Centennial Hall from 6:00pm to 7:30pm to help ensure that the Jarvis Garden's first full year of operations goes as smoothly as possible. Several onsite orientation opportunities will follow, with garden members earning service hour credits for attendance (maximum ½- hour credit.)
