Four students from Sir Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute, Bhavnagar, won the first prize of Rs 10 lakh in the hexapod category at the grand finale of Robofest Gujarat 4.0, the country's biggest robotics competition held at Science City, Ahmedabad from January 21 to 24, 2025. More than 1200 teams from higher education institutions including IITs and NITs of the country participated in Robofest Gujarat 4.0 organized by Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) in 7 different categories. In Robofest Gujarat 4.0, a team of Khushi Shah, Shivam Shukla, Keshavi Wala and Dharmik Vankani, students of the institute, under guidance of Prof Chintan Umraliya, participated in the Hexapod category.The specialty of the Hexapod robot developed by the team is that since it is an autonomous robot, it can find its way on unknown surfaces, avoid obstacles and climb onto stands.
