Thank you for using Universal Remote: Smart TV (“we,” “our,” or “the App”).
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use our mobile application, how it is handled, and what choices you have regarding your information.
By using Universal Remote: Smart TV, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
The core functionality of the App operates on a local, peer-to-peer basis between your Android device and your Smart TV. We do not operate external user accounts, cloud databases, or tracking servers.
The following information is processed locally on your device:
1. Local Network and TV Discovery Information
When scanning for Smart TVs, the App uses standard local discovery protocols, including mDNS, SSDP, and local IP socket checks.
The App processes local device information, such as IP addresses, device model names, and manufacturer details, to display available TVs and establish connections.
This information is not uploaded to our remote servers.
2. Android TV Pairing Identity and Certificates
For secure Android TV and Google TV control, the App generates a local cryptographic key pair and a self-signed X.509 certificate to complete the standard Google TV pairing handshake.
These keys are stored in your device's private app storage or keystore, as applicable, and are not sent to our servers.
3. Infrared (IR) Hardware
If your device has a built-in infrared transmitter (IR blaster), the App sends infrared signals to control compatible TVs.
This feature does not access or transmit personal data through infrared signals.
4. User Preferences and Settings
Your preferences, including vibration settings, keep-screen-on settings, and paired TV lists, are stored locally in your device's private storage using Android SharedPreferences or DataStore.
To keep the App free and support its development, we integrate third-party advertising and service providers.
1. Google AdMob (Google LLC)
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the App.
AdMob may collect and process certain device and usage information, including:
Google Advertising ID (AAID), where available and permitted.
IP address, which may be used for approximate location and ad delivery.
Device brand, model, operating system version, and screen size.
App performance metrics, diagnostics, and advertising interaction information.
Depending on applicable consent requirements and device settings, AdMob may use this information to deliver personalized or non-personalized advertisements.
2. Google Play Services
Google Play Services provides core Android functionality and related services. Depending on the services used and device configuration, Google may process technical, diagnostic, and usage information.
Third-party service providers maintain their own privacy policies governing how they process information.
