Wooden and Metallic Knives
The first part of my fourth year minor project involved creating an original blade based on designs done by the lecturers, with sika blocks and acryllic, as well as a nut and bolt for attaching the parts together. From there, I created a box mould for the connector middle part, a two-part mould with clay keys moulded into it for the blade, and a three-part silicone mould of the handle, using toothpicks to create airholes. I then cast a rubber and an Easyflow60 set of all three parts, and I also made a coldcast easyflow and coldcast polyester set. Then, working with an inspo photo, I painted the original, easyflow60 and rubber sets to look identical, with a wooden effect for the handle. I also moulded the bolt from the original knife and cast multiple copies to be superglued onto each knife cast.
