What is the EPIC Workshop 2026?

EPIC is where resident doctors turn project ideas into impact.

It is an initiative which equips healthcare professionals with practical skills in research and quality improvement through hands-on workshops, and peer mentorship.

FAQ

Is it free? 

Yes! The workshop is completely free to attend, and refreshments and lunch will also be provided.

What should I bring? 

If possible, we recommend bringing a laptop so that you can fully engage with the interactive workshop.

Who can attend?

Everyone is welcome! While EPIC is primarily targeted towards resident doctors, we also encourage medical students and healthcare professionals from all backgrounds to attend. Audits and QIPs are important across the healthcare system and are valuable learning opportunities at every stage of training and practice.

Will certificates be provided?

Yes. After completing the post-workshop survey, you will automatically receive a certificate of attendance. This can also be used as evidence of non-core teaching activity for your ePortfolio.

What to expect:

Whether you are starting from scratch or building on existing knowledge, EPIC will give you confidence and practical skills to get involved in QI.

This year, EPIC is running as a workshop aimed primarily at resident doctors. Previously, EPIC was an annual national conference for undergraduate medical students at the University of Birmingham, focusing on audits and quality improvement projects (QIPs).
