Sim Local Coupon ESIMDISCOUNT10: Buying eSIMs for a Group or Family

Why group orders change the maths

Most advice about travel eSIMs assumes one traveller buying one plan. Families, couples and small groups have a different problem: each person needs their own eSIM profile on their own phone, and the total climbs quickly. That is where a percentage discount behaves differently from a flat one. ESIMDISCOUNT10 takes 10% off, so the cash saved scales with the size of the basket rather than staying fixed.

Sim Local's own example figures show the pattern. A $4 plan saves roughly $0.40, a $20 plan around $2, and a $67 plan about $6.70. Put four $25 plans in one basket for a $100 order and the saving is $10. For a group, the sensible question is not whether 10% is worth chasing on a single cheap plan, but what the combined order comes to.

One code, one order

Sim Local allows only one code per order, and any other code must be removed before this one is applied. That rule matters more for groups than for solo buyers, because it removes the temptation to split the trip across several transactions in the hope of stacking offers. It also raises a point worth checking on screen: whether a single code applied to a basket holding several plans discounts all of them or only part of the order. That detail is not stated, so watch the order summary and confirm the total has fallen by 10% before paying.

The discount is an online-checkout mechanism. It is not for in-store purchases at Sim Local's airport retail locations, of which there are more than 100, and it is not necessarily combinable with other promotions. If half your group buys at an airport counter and half online, only the online side can use the code.

Checks to make for each traveller

A group order fails if one handset in the party cannot take an eSIM, so run the same checks person by person before you add anything to the cart.

Confirm each phone is eSIM-compatible using Sim Local's compatibility checker, and that it is carrier-unlocked.
Decide, for each person, whether a data-only plan is enough. Some plans include calls and texts, and some include local numbers; a data-only eSIM does not give a local number.
Match plan sizes to actual use rather than buying one size for everyone. US plans run roughly $4.00 to $67.00, with allowances from 500 MB to 30 GB and validity periods starting at one day.
Compare a regional or multi-country plan against separate single-country plans if the group is crossing borders.

Everyone keeps their existing number and physical SIM alongside the eSIM, and phones can usually hold around ten eSIM profiles, though some devices cap storage.

Applying the code at checkout

Build the full basket first, then go to checkout or the order-summary step and expand the discount code field, which is sometimes hidden behind an "add a discount code" link. The same field appears in the Sim Local app checkout. Type ESIMDISCOUNT10 exactly, with no spaces and no lowercase, and press Apply. Applying while signed in is easier than checking out as a guest. Using the code in a different currency or regional store version from the one you check out in can cause it to fail, and there may be a per-order minimum, so read the plan page and the terms shown beside the discount field.

After payment: installs and top-ups

Each eSIM arrives digitally as a QR code with instructions, sent by email and held in the account, so there is no shipping cost for a large order. The app is described as the fastest install route, with a plan downloadable in a couple of minutes; separate quick install guides exist for iOS and Android, and on iOS the path is Settings, then Cellular or Mobile Service, then Add eSIM and scan the QR code. Install about a day before travel, set the eSIM as the data line, turn data roaming on for that line and off for the home SIM.

One group-specific caution: top-ups are handled in the app as later, separate transactions, and those may not carry the same discount. The discount also cannot be added retroactively once payment has gone through, so size the plans properly at the outset rather than planning to buy more data mid-trip.
