Printer failing
My 3D printer broke; most of the time it wouldn’t produce any filament, then suddenly it would rapidly splurge filament.
I fixed my printer by looking online for people with the same problem. I took that information and fixed my printer by replacing the hot end nozzle.
But I still had the issue that the filament was not sticking to the build plate. I raised the heat on the build plate to try and solve this, but it did not solve all the issues.
I then tried out a new slicer called Prusa. This came with its own problem though. I could not use Tynkercad because it uses .stl files instead of .3mf, which is what Prusa uses. So, I scoured the web and I found a file converter to turn .stl to .3mf.
The video on the right, shows my 3D printer failing on a print. As it was extruding the filament, the filament stuck to the nozzle, snapping the plastic from the hot end and causing the print to fail.
Modelling challenges
The modelling was going well and I had finished the collectable series and I was moving on to the dice tower. I had the idea to make a fold-down portable Dice Tower but it wasn't possible to do something that complex on Tinkercad so I switched to Fusion 360. This is a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) app where I could design 3D mechanical models.
