Robottle was created in assignment of GGz. I worked together with ForShore studios, a team of 6 students, to conceptualize and develop the game in the span of 5 months.
Our team's assignment was to create a game that can assist therapists in getting to know their clients, with the topic of 'social connections' being the focus.
In Robottle, you find yourself stranded on a tropical island. While it seems to be deserted, mysterious messages in a bottle can be found...
The shy little Robot living on the island wants to be your friend. As the two of you grow closer, you discover more about each other and yourself.
I had the pleasure of animating the introduction of the game. All illustrations are created by my teammate Marissa van Beek. I was responsible for animation and sound design.
The purpose of the introduction video was to give players context about the story, and introduce the main goal of repairing the ship.
I designed, modeled and animated the shy little Robot, who the player slowly befriends throughout the game.
In the beginning, the Robot is very shy. He likes to hide behind his cloak.
At the end of the game, he offers the player his cloak to help repair the sail of the player's ship. He feels comfortable enough to show his full self.
Idle: beginning
Robot meets the player
Robot peeks at the player
Idle: ending
I also created a few smaller assets, such as the messages in a bottle which the Robot sends to the player.
