Town Day is an event in Arlington where local businesses, restaurants, schools, and other groups set up booths to give information about their business/project/ect. and have town pride. Town Day is held in Arlington center in mid September.
We had a booth at Town Day to spread awareness about solitary bees and the threat that colony collapse holds. We hoped to educate our community and try to get others to help make Arlington a better habitat for solitary bees, as well.
We handed out pamphlets on solitary bees and the benefits of clover lawns. We made simple houses for solitary bees out of plastic water bottles and reeds for people to take home. We also made clover seed bombs and gave instructions on what to do with them. The main reason we were there was to raise awareness, which we did by handing out information and talking to people about our project.
