SIGN project is an ERASMUS+ Project funded by the European Union, coordinated by Italian school IIS Concetto Marchesi, and cooperated by Portuguese school of Agrupamento de Escolas Nuno de Santa Maria, Latvian school of Liepajas Raina 6. Vidusskola and Turkish school of Mehmetçik Anatlian High School.
Padlet link of our project
In recent times the world has been shaken with increasingly frequent disasters due to the effect of climate change. It is rare for a week that the news in different countries does not report a serious consequence of an adverse atmospheric phenomenon. We have thus seen rain in dry regions of the Earth, or severe drought in several countries where it was not usual. It is urgent to alert the populations and in particular our students to this problem and teach them ways to combat and avoid it.
Therefore, the main objective of this project is to try to combat climate change within the school, and consequently use our students as conductors to take and implement the knowledge acquired outside the school.
Throughout the project, we will first characterize how climate change has affected partner countries, having chosen countries that cover different territories of Europe. Then we will implement strategies in schools that aim to minimize the impacts of climate change. Thus, each partner will contribute with activities that minimize and prevent this problem, such as the conscious use of energy, whether its rational use or the search for energy sources that do not aggravate climate change, analyze ways of producing food more efficient and that are less aggressive for the planet, discuss how the rise in seawater temperature has affected this very important resource for the planet and also contribute to save water in order to reduce the phenomenon of drought. These activities meet the chosen priorities, fight climate change and rethink the way we live on the planet, developing in the participants a green conscience, giving them basic skills so that they can live their lives with few consequences for the health of planet Earth.
This will also be a research project, teachers and students will take advantage of the knowledge of the impact of climate change in each territory and together they will seek to establish the best actions to implement in each partner country in order to minimize this impact and contribute to a best future for the inhabitants.
The main output will be exactly a brochure that contains the best environmental policies to minimize climate change in territories that are so geographically different.
During the project, learners in the target group will be able to:
1. Learning to fight and prevent climate change
2. Drawing attention to water pollution and raise water awareness
3. Changing our pupils and their parents water use bad habits
4. Understanding the production of energy from renewable energy sources and the importance of their use
5. Using products resulting from sustainable agriculture and meat production
6. Participate directly in the transmission of green energy information to other persons
7. Communicate impressions, to issue ideas, based on the activities carried out by us and our partners.
8. Create a e-brochure about the better ways to reduce climate changes in each partner country
9. Spread knowledge over Europe/world
