Listed below are our promotion criteria for the respective Sigma Security pay grades. Members can be recommended for promotions during operation AARs by a member that is higher than the rank that the person is being recommended for. (i.e. an Operator can recommend an Associate to Contractor). Upon being recommended for a promotion, Unit Staff will verify that you have fulfilled the minimum pay grade criteria before being promoted.
Associates have demonstrated baseline performance during operations. They are expected to be competent team members. They are promoted to Contractor based on minimum criteria listed under Contractor. Associates are not permitted to lead teams
Communication
Communicates by name (not I or me)
Understands how to use the short range radio (basic channels, pro-words, brevity)
Answers A.C.E. and Casualty/Medical Reports by Name
Tactics
Basic Combat Movement: i.e. Stays in formation, follows the team.
Maintains proper tactical spacing from other team members
Understands effective individual cover and concealment.
Stays within visual and auditory contact with the team.
Secures a sector at a halt.
Performance
Carries and utilizes all essential first line gear.
Clears back blast for any shoulder mounted weapons.
Uses weapon safety.
Uses map, compass, and GPS to navigate and maintain team cohesion.
Uses earplugs & entrenching tools effectively.
Uses ACE Interact with vehicles, equipment, strobes, etc.
Achieves a Positive ID (PID) before engaging and understands the basics of IFF (Identification of Friend or Foe).
Medical
Performs basic self-aid to bandage wounds and stop bleeding.
Performs medical in cover and ensures there are no active threats.
Contractors have demonstrated consistent performance during operations. They are entrusted with being capable team members in any given role. They are promoted to Contractor based on minimum criteria listed under Operator. Contractors are not permitted to lead more than 1 team, or 6 persons.
Communication
Understands how to use multiple radios for different frequencies.
Calls out contact reports with the 3D’s (Direction, Description, Distance)
Tactics
Understands basic formations (e.g file, wedge, on line, stagger col)
Understands and utilizes the concept of suppressive fire
Utilizes effective smoke for cover, advancing, maneuvers or retreats
Performance
Takes individual initiative to further mission success
Bounds effectively on a given order
Maintains spacing and team cohesion
Travels in the prescribed formation
Reacts to contact appropriately on an individual level
Understands the basics of vehicle and convoy security
Is confident with their abilities on the majority of weapons carried by a ground team
Medical
Secures medical casualty sites
Carries stable players to casualty collection points (CCPs)
Operators have demonstrated continued and consistent performance as a team leader across multiple operations. They can perform medical in a pinch, and keep their team effective. An operator is promoted to specialist after demonstrating repeated and continual success organizing multiple teams as listed in the minimum criteria under Specialist. An Operator is permitted to lead up to 4 teams with supporting assets.
Communication
Understands how to utilize a long range radio with appropriate brevity, and usage of pro-words
Calls for casualty reports when team members are unresponsive
Makes effective callouts directing movement and communicating information up and down the CoC
Tactics
Understands the four F’s of a firefight. Can Fix and Flank effectively
Reads Topographical maps to utilize terrain features in tactical planning
Confidently calls for appropriate disengagement
Utilizes cover and suppressive fire on a team level to minimize casualties
Utilizes concealment on a team level to minimize detection
Utilizes fire team formations appropriately
Understands squad level formations
Performance
Recognizes deficiencies in security.
Takes initiative at a team level to make decisions that ensure mission success
Organizes bounding effectively within the team and when appropriate
Utilizes weapons and ammunition effectively
Reacts to contact appropriately on a team level
Takes the team lead role on their own initiative
Medical
Knows basic medical (can revive his medic when they are unconscious)
Allows the medic to control a casualty or mass-casualty situation
Mentorship
Teaches new members controls and keybindings
Assists with loadout creation
Advises team leaders with movements, but respects decisions
Technicians are equivalent to Specialists and are expected to be mentors and subject matter experts in at least one area, qualified by an SME Certification. They are held to the same skill requirement as an Operator. They are also expected to run workshops and certification courses in their field of specialty to maintain this position. Technicians are promoted to Advisor based on effective combat leadership on par with Specialists.

Serves as 2IC for new or junior team leaders, to assist them with understanding the role
Specialists are our most proficient combat leaders. They are senior mentors that can competently lead four or more teams in an operation. They are also expected to shadow junior leaders and aid in improving their leadership effectiveness. They are promoted from Operator for exceptional leadership, and to Advisor after acquiring a SME Certification in their preferred area of expertise.

Provides commanders intent in communications
Calls for supporting fire on appropriate targets and utilizes assets on hand
Tactics
Utilizes squad level formations effectively
Understands platoon formations
Organizes effective bounding between two or more teams in a firefight
Assesses engagements and makes effective tactical decisions accordingly
Understands the strengths and limitations of ground assets, attempts to deploy them effectively
Understands player enjoyment, ensures that all players have a meaningful operational job
Performance
Formulates and executes plans on all scales
Delegates appropriately to a 2IC or junior leaders
Utilizes air and ground transports to increase operation tempo
Reacts to contact appropriately on a multi-team level, calling for fire, advance, and retreat appropriately
Enjoys the leadership role and routinely takes TL roles, and takes Actual on their own initiative
Mentorship
Mentors aspiring team leaders, assisting with tactics in game and in AAR
Offers tactical advice, but respects decisions
Assists team leaders with tactics and navigation
Holds players accountable to their rank
Advisors are pioneers of the unit. They hold a SME Certification in at least one area and can effectively lead five or more teams in an operation. They combine the attributes of both a Specialist and a Technician, and are both technical and leadership experts with the highest level of knowledge. Advisors are expected to mentor and instruct all junior members on tactics, behavior and success in Sigma Security Group.
Communication
Organize and direct communication at the highest levels to effectively complete a mission
Maintain positivity in communication and encourage others to do the same
Effectively communicate with ground troops, transport assets, CAS assets, and IDF assets
Assist in maintaining a positive unit atmosphere and acceptable behavior within operations.
Tactics
Adjusts tactics to match the environment and the situation, advises junior leaders on their actions
Takes responsibility for errors and mistakes, and provides improvements and criticisms
Makes minor adjustments to tactics to maximize player enjoyment
Works closely with newer members in buddy-teams to foster learning and correct mistakes
Performance
Consistently takes and excels in leadership roles
Is confident in their own abilities and limitations
Demonstrates all expectations of both a Specialist and a Technician
Mentorship
Actively mentors other players in several areas
Trains upcoming personnel to be effective members and leaders
Provides accurate information on mechanics, key binds, weapons, ammunition, and equipment
Offers 2IC slots to junior leaders when they are leading
Offers to take 2IC slots to mentor junior leaders when operating
