During his three-month residency at CHUMHEAN’s United Yoga Asia, Siden explored and visualized landscapes through various forms and mediums under the title The Glimpse in a Deception of Changes. His body of work includes drawing, deconstructed images and video, and fabric tufting, which together create an immersive series of imaginary landscapes.
The yoga studio on the first floor was transformed into an evocative space where drawings and textiles depicted changing landscapes with vibrant energy. The works share a connection through their vibrant colors and undulating textures, layered to reflect the complexity of landscape transformations in Cambodia. Fabric tufting pieces were displayed on walls and arranged as sculptural forms on the floor, inviting viewers to engage with their tactile surfaces. These textile works symbolized the nurturing essence of Gaia, contrasting with the disruptive changes brought by modernization. Light projections interacted with the fabric pieces, offering shifting perspectives on how landscapes evolve over time.
On the second floor, a video project presented a kaleidoscopic exploration of rapidly shifting forms, movements, and colors. This dynamic visual experience was paired with an original soundscape composed by Siden, blending his recordings with AI-generated sounds. The combination of video and sound captured the contrasts and complexities of modern environments, immersing viewers in a layered reflection on uncontrollable changes in landscapes.
In the studio, Siden filled the walls with drawings created during moments of introspection throughout his residency. Some drawings were bold and vibrant, brimming with color and dynamic brushstrokes, while others were minimalistic, using light gestures to evoke a quiet acceptance of change. These works revealed his personal process of balancing vivid expression with simplicity.
Through The Glimpse in a Deception of Changes, Siden presents a layered exploration of Cambodia’s evolving landscapes. By intertwining memory, imagination, and transformation, his works encourage viewers to reflect on the interplay between nature, modernization, and personal perception.
