Each month, one cadet from each company is recognized by the JROTC Staff for their display of leadership skills and academic excellence. These cadets are then invited to an interview conducted by the JROTC Battalion Commander, Command Sergeant Major, and Executive Officer. The highest scoring cadet is named Smithfield High School JROTC Cadet of the Month.
March's JROTC Cadet of the Month is Payton D'Amico! Cadet D'Amico is a sophomore and Let 1 in Bravo Company. JROTC is a favorable class of she and she likes the hands-on activities and learning about drill and ceremony. She likes being a part of Bravo company and she has learned greatly from his squad leader, Cadet Hamner. She is a recognizable cadet for his behavior in and outside of the program. She academically excels while conducting himself in a matter of citizenship. Cadet D'Amico stated, "After the board, I confidently awaited my results. After being selected, I am very proud of myself for accomplishing so much so soon!”
