This project given is a digital collage of 10 photos, edited to represent who I am, the trick here is that they have to be live photos taken from a camera of the sort. The thinking process was a bit difficult, as I had old photos years back. But with a little tweaking, here's how the process went
These Photos are old photos, the oldest few being from 2015, so at least a decade back, others though are very recent, the newest one being in 2024
I made the grassland the background/ base of the collage, and following it would be the other objects that suddound and fill it. I also wanted to give each photo an individual modification, so ireally had to dive into the design and how to fit everything in at once. So, I placeed everything angularly to line up, but not to where it's all bulked up together and defeats the main surface.
My initial goal was to create more of a greyscale esque of a collage, but when I noticed some of the images were so vibrant that they don't look as grey when I fade it, I thought that purple was more of an appealing color. With the help of placement, duplication, warping, opacity, and hue saturation, I was able to create my official piece to show, as shown below.
At this point, I wanted to use every feature possible to create a unique but also neat design. Changing the theme clor to purple solidified how I wanted each layer to look. I warped the bottle and numbers, duplicated the beetle annd macaroons, saturated the microorganism and my hand, etc. This beause the piece I showed as a draft submission.
My class took a day to do some constructive criticism. When it came to my submission, people likes my work. It looked nostalgic and psychedelic, like an album of the sort. The only downside was the glass bottle in black and white, since it was curved as opposed to the more linear form of the collage, other than that, it was pretty good.
After the critisicm, I went back in one last time to fix the bottle since it was the only thing that was throwing the collage off. Instead of bending it, I oversaturated it to make it a psychedelic purple with hints of green (to which I faded it to not let it overpower).
