In this project, we must choose a Letter to take pictures of and experiement with it in order to analyze how we can expand it in to new horizons. In my case, I chose the letter o.
The first 10 images were very simple and general O's. I just took these with the thought of them looking circle like.
The second ten o's began to be a little more observed. As I noticed there were planty or O's that were right in front of me, I took the chance to get a shot of them. Some of the them that aren't naturally circle-like were revised to get into the form
I then began to look more aound to see where I can find some O's. Using some household products, there was more to be found than expected. As you can see, my eyes were expanding intheor horizon.
You can see in here that I was slowly running out of things to look for here. Consdering I was using even the smallest of objects to find my letter, I jsut inserted them in there. This groupswas where I was struggling the most.
Eventually, the creative spark began to come back in again. The moment I realized that not everything had to be in the image of a perfect circle, I decided to get out of that comfort zone and dive into more circle shaped things.
I sterted takign random pictues in this group, but it did spark some mroe inspiration in me to take more
In this Group I had also went out to seek some different representations. Some of these pictures are outside my usual aesthetic, but it worked in the process.
I went back into usig household materials to get some pictures. Circles are everywhere in our daily household.
Ironically towards the end, I was starting to get art block, after having taken so many pictures. I felt like in this round, I was jsut taking anything that resembled an O and just simply capturing it to count for something.
These Images I found to like the most out of all the groups, they're all uniquely aligned that I couldn't help but put them at last. I was also the most creative in this pile so it figures.
As much as this looks easy on the surface, I gotta say that this was abit difficult considering I had to find as many O's formed items I could in the span of 2 days. I managed to do it, but at what cost did it benefit me? That's the real question here...
At the bottom, here's what I beleived to be my top three pictures that I took, all with reasoning.
The most creative one in my opinion
This one is foaming from a plastic slipper, it's very neat and organized while being a bit of an illusion
This one is just my eye, which I took as a last minute resort
At the bottom, here's what I believed to be my bottom three pictures that I took, all with reasoning.
Not exactly O shaped, felt a bit out of place to me since everything else was a closed circle
Very similar to another piece, but less shiny
THe other prongs overpower the bottom one which is supposed to be the main focus
The formstorming experiment is meant to elevate your eyes into seeing something you once ignored in your life. Once you begin to acknowledge it's existence, the more you eventually see it. My process overall taught me of how common the letter O is easily imprinted into our daily lives. O can also be associated with a circle, which is also the most common shape used. It can represent completness, seciruty, anything in the mind. It's all apart of our live in which we overlook it.
