The Busy Bees club has FOUR 4-H club officer positions. 4-H members seeking to be a club officer must try to attend all meetings.
President: The president uses parliamentary procedure to conduct the Busy Bees club meeting. The president may work in cooperation with leaders and other club officers to develop an agenda for the meeting and help plan club activities. President will also contact vice-president if he/she is unable to be at a meeting.
Vice-president: Vice-president will step in to lead the meeting if the president is absent. This club officer will also help plan club activities, educational programming, and encourage participation in club events.
Secretary: The secretary takes detailed notes about each meeting, types them up to distribute as minutes to the club and may help create an agenda for the following meeting. The secretary reads or summarizes the previous month’s meeting and takes club attendance. The secretary writes thank you notes to presenters or volunteers as needed. As a club officer, the secretary will also help plan other club activities. At the end of the year, the secretary compiles a secretary book to submit to the county.
Treasurer: The treasurer must be in sixth grade or older. This person keeps track of income and expense for the club and works with an adult volunteer or leader to write checks as needed. The treasurer presents the report at each club meeting. The treasurer will create a written budget for the 4-H year in cooperation with the club officers and leaders. The treasurer will also assemble records for submittal to the county office at the end of the year. As a club officer, the treasurer also helps plan other club activities.
