It was a busy weekend for the Busy Bees at the 2021 Sherburne County Fair July 13th-18th! So many memories were made.

Sherburne County 4-H held a virtual county fair this summer due to the COVID pandemic. Despite a challenging situation, the Busy Bees club stepped up to the challenge with flying colors! The Busy Bees club learned all about cats and small animals when Dr. Joel Ihnen from All Pets Veterinary in Zimmerman came to our January club meeting. The kids were very interested and had a lot of questions to ask. Afterward, the club made cat toys for a craft.
The Busy Bees chose to hold their December gathering at Grand Slam in Coon Rapids where we played mini golf, drove bumper cars, had fun in laser tag, and took the ninja course challenge and more. Of course, there was pizza and pop!

July 2019: The Busy Bees club participates in Ace Solid's Waste's annual Carts on Parade Decorating Contest. Decorated containers are on display at the Anoka County Fair in the Ace booth. This year, the club earned $250 with the "Bee a Good Recycler" Barry Bee container. See full press release with additional details here.
July 18-21, 2019: Busy Bees 4-H'ers took part in another fun filled county fair season. Lots of blue ribbons, good weather, and great food at the 4-H building of course!

June 29 , 2019: Another successful Spudfest Parade thanks to Ace Solid Waste Carts on Parade and to Home Explorers and Refuge Rangers 4H Groups for their help! Groups will split the $500 earned and a portion will be donated to the Livestock group.
May 31, 2019: Thanks to the Pearo, Rohs, Kuhn & Schlueter families for working together and getting our spring ditch cleaning community project complete. The club is part of the Adopt-a-Highway program for Anoka County covering Viking Blvd in Nowthen and commits to cleaning the ditches twice a year.
June 2019: The Busy Bees club members donated & assembled about 50 blessing bags for the homeless and gave to St John's Lutheran church to distribute. Thank you to all those who donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, water, granola bars, hand sanitizers, wash cloths, crackers and more!
April 14, 2019: The Busy Bees club got a head start on county fair & Cloverbud banners at the April meeting. The banner themes are "Every 4-Her is an Important Piece" and a Cloverbud banner "Dive into 4-H". Great team effort!
Mar 27-Apr 7, 2019: Busy Bees families helped bring 4-H awareness to Tractor Supply customers. The TSC Clover Drive is an annual fundraiser that supports 4-H programs nationwide.
Feb 23, 2019: Rohs, Kegley & Schlueter families enjoyed the extraordinary winter and snowfall in Minnesota in one of the club's activities for the year. Thanks to the Rohs' family and neighbors for providing the venue and refreshments.
Jan 20, 2019: Busy Bees club members donate money & supplies to Open Doors for Youth, a drop-in resource center who provides supplies and services to homeless youth ages 16-24 in Elk River.
The Dec 16, 2018 club meeting included marshmallow ice cream cone game, plastic ornaments craft and making trees from recycled books.
Dec 7, 2018: One of our Busy Bees, Leah, helped put together a bike during the Bike Build held in Ramsey sponsored by Ace Solid Waste/Waste Connections. A total of 134 bikes were built and will be distributed to youth in the area.
Nov 25, 2018: Sherburne County 4-H Coordinator, Danielle Ganje, goes over the 4-H pledge and parliamentary procedures with the newest Busy Bees club members.
Oct 21, 2018: The Busy Bees cleaned ditches on Viking Blvd before the October meeting as part of the club's community service projects.

July 2018: The Busy Bees club participates in Ace Solid Waste's annual cart decorating for the Anoka County Fair. This year's submission was a miniature Ace truck with the theme "Please keep your recycling clean" meaning keep trash out of the recycle can. Know what is recyclable! The club earns up to $300 to decorate a can which is then used in various parades around the Minneapolis area.
June 2018: The Busy Bees club participated in it's annual Carts on Parade fundraiser. Club members, friends or family walk in the Spudfest Parade in Big Lake. The club earns money for each participant from the sponsor, Ace Solid Waste Inc.
Ace Solid Waste also sponsors a cart decorating fundraiser. Trash carts that have been decorated by the Busy Bees club have included "Poppy" from Trolls, "Anger" from Inside Out, "Thomas the Train", "Minions", and "Olaf" from Frozen.
It was a beautiful September day for a visit to the Oliver Kelley Farm. The sheep were busy running, oxen and horses grazing, chickens foraging, lots of learning and fun for the kids. See more photos on our Facebook Kelley Farm Visit Album.
