Do you have a deep passion for horses and enjoy quick-thinking competition? The Sherburne County 4-H Horse Bowl Contest is your chance to shine! This fun, quiz-show-style contest tests how quickly and accurately you can recall facts about horses, the industry, and science.
You do NOT need to own a horse or ride to be a champion in Horse Bowl!
Horse Bowl is a competitive quiz contest similar to a high school academic bowl or Jeopardy!, but entirely focused on equine topics. Teams buzz in to answer questions about the horse world. It's a key part of the "Horseless Horse" project!
Why should you join the Horse Bowl Team?
Fast-Paced Fun: The excitement of buzzing in and getting the answer before your competitors is a rush!
Master the Facts: Become a walking encyclopedia of horse facts, covering everything from anatomy to management.
Develop Core Skills: Hone your listening skills, practice quick decision-making, and learn to operate as a cohesive team.
Compete for the State: Winning teams may earn the opportunity to compete at the state and national levels!
Horse Bowl is structured like an oral quiz show.
Teams: You compete on a team, usually consisting of three to four members, against other 4-H teams.
Buzzers: Questions are read, and the first person to "buzz in" gets the chance to answer.
Topics: Questions cover all areas of equine science, including:
Anatomy and Physiology
Health and Disease
Nutrition and Feeding
Breeds, History, and Evolution
Tack and Equipment
No Horse Required: The focus is purely on your academic knowledge and quick recall—no live horses are involved in the competition itself.
Teams are formed and study materials are distributed shortly after the deadline. To get started, you must be an officially enrolled 4-H member.
