MS/MRS SHELBY COUNTY FAIR PAGEANT

Thursday, June 13, 2024

Interview – 4:00PM * Pageant – 6:00PM

ELIGIBILITY

·   Contestants must be AT LEAST 22 years of age, and meet all eligibility critiera for Ms/Mrs Kentucky County Fair Pageant. Those rules may be found here: https://www.kafs.net/p/other/mrsms-kcf-pageant/mrsms-pageant-rules

·   Contestant must be a resident of Kentucky - open to all Kentucky counties.

·   Contestant must NOT have already won a Ms, Mrs or Modern Woman title at a COUNTY FAIR for the 2024 season.

·   Note: Prior Ms/Mrs Shelby County queens are welcome to re-compete during the 2024 season

 

DIVISIONAL ELIGIBILITY

·   MS SHELBY COUNTY contestants must be at least 22 years of age, and may be single, divorced, or widowed.

·   MRS SHELBY COUNTY contestants must be at least 22 years of age and she is CURRENTLY MARRIED.

·   SHELBY COUNTY’S MODERN WOMAN contestants must be at least 22 years of age and MUST be a size 14 or larger. She may be married or unmarried.

 

COMPETITION

·   Competition will be held on Thursday, June 13th at the Shelby County Fairgrounds 1513 Midland Trail Shelbyville, KY

·   Contestants will meet judges individually for 3-minute personal interview at Horse Show Office at 4PM on pageant day.

o    Interview – Business attire, dress, jumpsuit, etc. (35% of total score)

·   Contestants will appear on stage TWO times at the horse show pavilion and 6PM on pageant day.

o    Fitness Wear – Show us your style! No swimsuits! (30% of total score)

o    Formal wear – Floor length formal gown, age appropriate (35% of total score)

 

REGISTRATION

·   An optional informational meeting and optional practice will be held on Sunday, June 9th at 6PM at the Horse Show Pavilion, located at Shelby County Fairgrounds

·   Registration is non-refundable. Participation is by Pre-Registration ONLY! NO DOOR ENTRIES! All registrations AND full payment must be received by Sunday, June 9th at 6PM.

·   Registration fee of $50 payable to Shelby County A&M Association; registration form; copy of birth certificate and headshot/photo to be turned in at the informational meeting, emailed or mailed to the address listed below.

·   Gate fees/admission is not included in registration.

SIDE AWARDS

·   Ms Congeniality - selected from all contestants and voted on by peers. She will receive a special gift from fair board.

·   People’s Choice/Fan Favorite - winner chosen by the crowd, during the stage competition. Votes are $1 each and can be turned in at the designated space during the pageant. Miss Fan Favorite will receive a sash and crown.

·   Heaven Redmon Heart of Service Award – winner chosen by directors for the impact of their community service. Does not impact score and judges are not made aware of who has been selected. Winner will receive a gift from board.

·   Shelby County’s Angel – Contestant who brings the most non-perishable food items to donate to local food pantry. Needs: Non-perishable snack foods, pudding, apple sauce, crackers, pop tarts, pop-top can meals, peanut butter, dry cereal. Winner will receive a special award from the pageant committee.

·   Additional side awards: Overall Best Interview; Most Photogenic

 

WINNERS

·   Three divisional queen titles will be given: Ms. Shelby County Fair; Mrs. Shelby County Fair; and Shelby County’s Modern Woman. Each queen will receive flowers, a sash and crown.

·   The highest overall score between Ms. And Mrs. Queens will go on to represent Shelby County Fair at the first Ms/Mrs. Kentucky County Fair pageant in January 2024.

·   The Modern Woman pageant will continue to be a Kentucky Festivals qualifying preliminary pageant.

 

EXPECTATIONS

·   All queens will be expected to participate in other community-related activities including but not limited to: an appearance at the Shelby County Fair Horse Show June 17-22, Shelby County Christmas Parade (Dec 7), and additional fair pageants & fair events.

If at any time during her reign, either winner is unable to complete her reign/responsibilities, violates the terms of eligibility for state competition, or grossly misrepresents herself in a negative, inappropriate or criminal manner, either publicly or on social media, her title shall be removed and reappointed to the first-runner up for the remainder of the term.
