MISS SHELBY COUNTY FAIR INFORMATION
YOU ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION, SO PLEASE READ
ELIGIBILITY
· Contestants must be single, never married, never had a marriage annulled, and never had any children.
· Contestant must have reached her 16th birthday by October 31, 2026
· Contestant cannot have reached her 22nd birthday by October 31, 2026
· Contestant must be a resident of Kentucky – Fair title open to all Kentucky counties. A local title will also be given.
· Contestant may have participated before but must not have been named Miss Shelby County Fair in previous state participation, must not have previously been crowned Miss Kentucky County Fair, and must not currently hold a Miss County Fair title at another member fair for 2026 season.
COMPETITION
· Competition will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Shelby County Fairgrounds 1513 Midland Trail Shelbyville, KY
· Contestants will meet judges individually for 3-minute personal interview at Horse Show Office at 4PM on pageant day.
o Interview – Business attire, dress, jumpsuit, etc. (20% of total score)
· Contestants will appear on stage TWO times at the horse show pavilion and 7PM on pageant day.
o Swimwear – One-piece pageant swim suit – sarong optional (40% of total score)
o Formal wear – Floor length formal gown, age appropriate (40% of total score)
REGISTRATION
· An optional informational meeting and optional practice will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 5PM at the Horse Show Pavilion, located at Shelby County Fairgrounds
· Registration is non-refundable. Participation is by Pre-Registration ONLY! NO DOOR ENTRIES! All registrations AND full payment must be received by Sunday, June 7th at 5PM.
· Registration fee of $100 payable to Shelby County A&M Association; registration form; copy of birth certificate and digital headshot/photo to be turned in at the informational meeting or mailed to the address listed below.

· Gate fees/admission is not included in registration.

SIDE AWARDS
· Miss Congeniality - selected from all contestants and voted on by peers. She will receive a special gift from fair board.
· People’s Choice - winner chosen by the crowd, during the stage competition. Votes are $1 each and can be turned in at the designated space during the pageant. Miss Fan Favorite will receive a sash and crown.
· Heart of Service Award – winner chosen by directors for the impact of their community service. Does not impact score and judges are not made aware of who has been selected. Winner will receive a gift from board.
· Shelby County’s Angel – Contestant who brings the most non-perishable food items to meet community needs in Shelby County. Needs: Individually Packaged, Non-perishable snack foods, pudding, apple sauce, crackers, pop tarts, pop-top can meals, peanut butter, dry cereal. Winner will receive a special award from the pageant committee.
· Other Side Awards – Academic Achievement, Athletic Achievement – selected by pageant committee. Does not impact score.
· Judges Side Awards – Overall Best Interview; Most Photogenic – selected by judges, does not impact score.
· Star Contestants (Shelby County contestants with special needs) who are eligible for miss division may choose to compete with her peers in this pageant, and be granted a special award during crowning. This is an inclusive option for special needs contestants as an alternative to the Miss/Mister Star pageant. Limited spots, please contact director to apply by June 1.
WINNERS
· From the contestants, five finalists will be selected by top scores from all legs of competition. A first and second runner up and fair queen will be selected by the judges from these finalists.
a. Miss Shelby County Fair – This title is open to all contestants from all Kentucky counties. Miss Shelby County Fair will reign at Shelby County Fair and must compete at the Miss Kentucky County Fair Pageant in January 2027. She will be required to attend the Little Miss and Mister Pageant at Kentucky State Fair and Kentucky State Fair Opening Day Ceremonies in August 2026. The fair title winner will receive crown, sash, flowers and two-night hotel reimbursement for state competition (hotel only, up to $300, no other fees, no room service, etc.)
b. Miss Shelby County – This local title is open to Shelby County residents only. This queen will be selected as the local contestant with the highest score. Miss Shelby County will reign in her hometown and have the option to compete at Kentucky Festivals State Pageant in November 2026. Winner will receive crown, sash and flowers. Note: We must have at least three local participants registered to have the local title.
EXPECTATIONS
· Both queens (fair and local) will be expected to participate in other community-related activities including but not limited to: Shelby County Fair Horse Show June 15-20, Shelby County Christmas Parade (Dec 5), and additional fair pageants.
· Miss Shelby County Fair will be required to register for state competition within two weeks of her crowning.
If at any time during her reign, either winner is unable to complete her reign/responsibilities, violates the terms of eligibility for state competition, or grossly misrepresents herself in a negative, inappropriate or criminal manner, either publicly or on social media, her title shall be removed and reappointed to the first-runner up for the remainder of the term.
