The Junior Brigader Brooch is the highest award for the primary girl who has successfully completed the Junior Programme and demonstrated good leadership abilities and is a good role model.
The JSTAR Award is awarded to a primary girl upon completion of all the requirements of the Junior Programme and shows outstanding conduct and character. Also need to participate in a National Competition and two Community Service projects.
Upon successful completion of the Junior Leadership Training, a primary girl will be awarded the JL badge and would be expected to lead her squad.
The Girls' Brigade Junior Programme aims to build character and inculcate good values in the girls. This programme consists of six segments:
GB Knowledge - Provide girls with the understanding of and pride in the movement to which they belong.
Drills - Instill discipline & resilience.
Service - Develop empathy to identify and meet needs in the world with an attitude of gratitude and service.
Treasure - Develop courage and patience to learn and apply new skills purposefully.
Adventure - Develop resilience and tenacity to complete physical challenges, as an individual and a team member.
Responsibility - Develop a sense of responsibility and respect towards self, others and the world.
Under the programme, which started in 2021, beneficiaries can ask for any item within a $60 budget. Wishes granted in the past included bedsheets and home appliances such as electric kettles; health and wellness items like mobility aids and blood pressure monitors; and school supplies and toys for children.
