Social Media Manager
August 2025 - May 2026
I was an intern as a social media manager at SEED Innovation Hub, and it has been an inspiring experience that promotes growth. I was mainly in charge of creating and scheduling posts, taking photos at all events and making sure the brand had a cohesive look online. Once I felt settled, I kept asking for more responsibilities. I designed campaign visuals and wrote content to support SEED’s mission of empowering innovation and entrepreneurship. I manage SEED’s LinkedIn Business Account through the creation and implementation of digital storytelling. Additionally, I analyze performance metrics to boost community outreach strategies. Working with interns who “get it” and are excited about supporting changemakers and fostering creativity has been very rewarding. I have learned a lot about digital strategy, community engagement and leadership. I am thrilled to continue growing with SEED and see where this journey takes me next!
One of the first posts I did for SEED was to get to know what SEED is all about. I used Canva to create this. It is also a way of getting people to know what the company is all about and what it offers to innovators and entrepreneurs. I designed it on Canva in line with SEED’s branding and visual identity. The idea was to create an engaging, informative and fun post as a way of introducing our page for awareness and community connection.
As part of my work at the SEED Innovation Hub, I designed and created a promotional flyer for an event hosted by the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department. I use Canva to make this. The project aimed to produce a visually engaging and inclusive design that reflected the event’s themes of empowerment, community, and dialogue. I collaborated closely with event organizers to ensure the flyer’s layout, color palette, and typography aligned with both SEED Hub’s branding and the department’s values.

The article elaborates on how innovation extends beyond technology, resources, etc., but rather, is a mentality that draws from curiosity, experimentation, collaboration, and community. Writing this article for the SEED Innovation Hub gives me the opportunity to share the values of culture and problem-solving that represent the Hub. I wanted to convey how the SEED mindset inspires people to think differently and take bold risks that make change happen. I am personally of the opinion that innovation isn't limited to one department in an organization, it is energized where people feel empowered to stay curious, offer collaboration freely, build intentionally.
The purpose of this article was to tell the story of the mission, vision, and rising impact of SEED Innovation Hub in Southern Virginia. I wanted to capture the "innovation" happening simply inside "the walls of SEED," but also the spirit behind it, in collaboration, inclusiveness, and the belief that creativity will flourish anywhere. This piece was intended to tell SEED’s story as both a physical hub and a catalytic hub for regional change, blending storytelling with strategy.

Posts
I've developed a post series to highlight distinct rooms in SEED. This will help people know what SEED is and how the rooms within SEED are resources for them. I use my own camera to take high-quality images and then I edit them in Adobe Photoshop to create visually appealing, on-brand images. I create a thoughtful post that highlights each space based on its specific features and functions, so readers can learn about the facilities too. The post series builds interest in SEED, but it also showcases my growth in photography, photo editing, and social media storytelling.
During my time as a LinkedIn Intern for the SEED Innovation Hub, I created and published professional social media content highlighting the organization’s programs, partnerships, and community impact. Through strategic LinkedIn posts, I showcased interdisciplinary grant collaborations, youth entrepreneurship initiatives, experiential learning workshops, and higher education innovation programming, helping strengthen SEED’s digital presence and communicate its mission to diverse audiences. This experience enhanced my skills in content creation, brand storytelling, audience engagement, and professional communication while supporting the promotion of innovation-driven initiatives across the region.
