Artsonia is an app and website that connects students' artwork to their families. Artsonia is a digital portfolio that gets created when the student starts kindergarten or joins the school and stays with them until fifth grade. This is the perfect place for artwork to be saved if the original paper or sculpture gets ruined over time. This app or website also allows parents to purchase their child's artwork on a variety of items and part of the money goes back to the art teacher to put into their classroom.
Knowledge indicator 8E states, "Understand school- and work-based learning environments and the need for collaboration with all organizations (e.g., businesses, community agencies, nonprofit organizations) to enhance student learning." Artsonia is the perfect app to connect students' artwork to their families. This app has places for students to title their work and write an artist statement. Professional artists create titles and artist statements for every work they complete. Students get an introduction to being like a professional artist through the Artsonia app.
While using this app, I got to take photos of students and see the process students go through to upload. This includes cropping the photo, making it brighter, and giving it a title and artist statement. I learned artist statements are effective for upper elementary students to reflect on their artwork and I can go through and read the comments.
This is a flyer I created using Canva for the fine arts cafe at the high school. I volunteered to put this flyer together. I had to learn a little bit about the event before creating it to know what would be taking place. I included the school colors and images that include all the arts showcased. I was excited to know that this flyer was emailed to all fine arts parents and hung around the school to promote the event.
Performance indicator 8M states "uses digital tools and resources to promote collaborative interactions." When I created this flyer, I used Canva, a digital tool with templates for all sorts of projects. This tool is important to use and understand how it works. The flyer templates are perfect for getting information out to students and the community about upcoming events. I know this website will be used in the future for events and in other ways.
Through creating this flyer, I got to learn about one of the fine arts department's favorite fall events, the fine arts cafe. I learned the importance of collaboration within the department, even if they are not in the same area of the fine arts. I love how these teachers want to highlight all the arts and the work of the students since the beginning of the school year.
