Elementary School
I taught second grade students the steps to creating a pinch pot. We started with modeling clay and then moved into air dry clay. The students created a pinch pot, painted them, and glazed them with mod podge. This was a great project to combine previously learned skills in painting and color theory.
Third grade students learned about the artwork of Henri Matisse. Using his Goldfish painting and his collage techniques, students created their own fishbowl art. Students learned about warm and cool colors and organic and geometric shapes.
Fourth grade students experienced the printmaking process of creating the plate, similar to a stamp and transferring the image twice. One side was left blank and the other was colored in to add details. This project went along with the social-emotional learning book called The Whatifs by Emily Kilgore.

Beginning art students researched a few endangered animals before choosing one to draw. We learned about grid drawing and value and used those techniques to draw the animal.
The photography students took photos all week to capture a variety of homecoming events. Each day, photos were printed and added to their book to create a collection of their experiences.
Pottery students created tic-tac-toe boards! Each student got to roll out their slab of clay and choose the theme for their board. After creating the board and pieces, students got to glaze with a variety of glaze colors.
