Trashed was made in one week as part of the EcoPlay Jam, and dedicated to spreading awareness about environmental issues - specifically the the plight of sea turtles.
The sound font we decided on is a bitcrushed style. I composed the music-like sound effects using the same instruments as the music in Reason. I also layered these on one another to add intensity and variation for different enemies. Each sound effect also had several variations so no one SFX got too stale to listen to. This affect was achieved with a multi-instrument in FMOD.
As with the SFX, the music is in a bitcrushed style. As the player progresses, the music intensifies - a feature I achieved by adding distortion, volume modulation, and reverb to various instrumental parts. All these effects were added in FMOD and tied to a parameter through Unity to allow the gameplay programmer to adjust the intensity according to the current gameplay intensity.
