1981 HOUSEBOAT ADVENTURE - Stockton Calif - Lots of Mosquitos and Houseboat in need of repair so Mike and Bob Schmidt go off to get us help!! Mike likes to tell the story of when he was on the big canal with the BIG ships and Joyce said he had enough speed and time to get past them...no one was hurt and it's a great family story.

Joyce was the Manager of the Team and liked to give felt stars out to the girls for rewards. We ironed them onto the caps. The Team Name "Tigers" (Campbell Bobby Sox) - The league saved money by recycling the uniforms each year. We only had to buy caps.

I think that is a Gunne Sax dress which was very popular in the 80's. I also remember shopping at the Gunne Sax outlet in SF.

1981 Christmas Eve - Celebrated at the Mike Shannon home I think for the 1st time. The bulletin board was decorated with a Jesus Christmas tree that Mike made. This is a Mike Shannon Design - inspired by the Holy Spirit.

February - Colleen Breaks her elbow on a Ski Trip with the Church Youth Group.

Mike buys a new car - Chrysler Laser that "talks" - It will tell you if the door is open etc.

Mike & Joyce dress up for Church Dance. Joyce is wearing the plaid skirt she wore in High School (1960) and the jewelry too. Mike is wearing the Pendleton Jacket he wore when he met Joyce at San Jose City College(1961). Yes, that's how we dressed in High School - guys wore their hair like Elvis and the girls work the big lockets and bows in their hair.

1984 The Year of the Computer - We purchase an APPLE IIe for Sean for his birthday Nov 1984 and at Christmas time Sean & U. Jim are looking and U. Mike's computer while visiting.

1985 - Maureen graduates from Prospect High School - Erin graduates from Castro Jr High - The kids are all done with the lower grades!! Colleen & Erin join Mike & Joyce for SF cable car adventure after dropping Maureen off at the airport. Maureen was off on her Europe Vacation following graduation.

1989 Was the year of the BIG EARTHQUAKE 7.9 in October. Joyce & Mike travelled to SF to celebrate their Anniversary and no one was there! We stayed at the Holiday Inn at the SF Fisherman's Wharf thanks to Sean & girlfriend Patricia. The picture below shows Sean & Colleen at Christmas sitting under the Bookshelves on the Family Room wall. When the Earthquake hit SJ, Colleen was sitting under those shelves and Joyce yelled at Colleen to get away from them. Joyce was standing at the kitchen counter watching the corning ware pan slide and she thought quickly enough to catch it. I think the only breakage we suffered was a broken lightbulb.

1989 - Joyce & Mike 25th Anniversary - We celebrated with family and friends at a big party at Moffett Field.
