"Reflective thinking turns experience into insight." - John C. Maxwell.
1.Using YouTube videos and allocating time to use some feature within excel I can confidently create a timetable a lot quicker than I could six weeks ago. Upon reflection, I could refine my skills by constant revision and more research into advanced features. I am pleased with my progress and having this skill is so beneficial for my time management skills, which will also be useful when I have my own classroom and a different workload.
2. Infographic and colour are a great way to engage any audience. Through design it can be a way to lighten the mood in education. The teaching of infographics in school to children could be a great way for them to recall important information and apply it to their own infographic. For me, I have learnt less is more!
3. Using YouTube I can confidently and quickly apply my knowledge and questions I want students to know in a Kahoot Quiz format. Games are a great way to have fun with the students but also help them to remember facts.
Confidently enter data or interpret data on excel spreadsheet. Use the data to convert to tables or graphs. Use Excel to create a daily timetable
Make my infographics or slideshows on Canva more creative and engaging for students
Make quizzes that use important facts and questions relatable to topics in the classroom to engage students but also keep it fun.
Digital technology is a pathway to a successful future in education. Children are showing more diversity not only in learning but also in their social skills. Technology can be a vital tool in this process. Initially, I was very rigid in my views about incorporating technology into my learning and future classroom. However, delving into ICT and understanding its integration into the curriculum has changed my perspective. The general capability of digital literacy can enhance a student’s knowledge and skills across all other capabilities. This realisation has enlightened me about the importance of continuously building a strong foundation in technology and programs as an emerging teacher. Using digital competencies in my pedagogy is crucial, as a teacher without digital literacy is becoming a relic of the past. Blannin (2022) suggests we can empower students through digital literacy skills and set foundations for lifelong learning that will serve into their adult lives, in which they can continue to build. This can be transferred into a teacher’s pedagogy, and a teacher willing to learn new skills is a lifelong learner that not only empowers students but feels empowered themselves. This is relatable to me during this unit as it has built my confidence and left me wanting to constantly be upskilling in this area that I do struggle with. Through constant reflection and refinement, I believe my pedagogy and ICT skills will continue to grow.
