Professional learning goals are crucial because they drive individuals to improve continuously, leading to better teaching and outcomes for future students. When I consider my professional goals, I reflect on areas within myself that need development and what I can do to become the best version of myself, not just for my benefit but for the benefit of every student I teach. Digital Literacy goals are essential for every teacher in the classroom. Since I am not strong in this area, I must set specific goals to improve my digital literacy skills. Teachers can implement Vygotsky's (1978) Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) into a teaching aspect to ensure goals are met (Howell and McMaster, 2022). Creating achievable goals in the ideal zone will set the foundations for success. Staying current with the latest industry standards and protocols is necessary to ensure all students receive consistent skills from every teacher, maximising their chances of success Bayeck et al., (2020). According to ACARA (2024), teachers should focus on creating, exchanging, managing, and operating within digital literacy while ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. Learning in the Digital Age (2020) points out that training employees is costly, leading some organisations to refrain from investing time or money, which results in workplace issues. However, investing in teachers' development is worthwhile, enabling them to provide cutting-edge education for future learners. Blannin (2022) supports my theory that digital literacy in primary school settings offers more benefits than drawbacks. Today, technology is increasingly reliable in classrooms, with accessible programs that present fewer issues. More knowledgeable staff can now address the technological problems more effectively, unlike before when lack of education heightened issues. Technology is an excellent tool to engage children in learning, as they perceive it as fun and rewarding. Utilising technology for education is highly beneficial for everyone involved. Additionally, technology enhances communication between teachers, students, and parents, ensuring everyone is aligned on each child's specific learning needs. Howell and McMaster (2022) highlight that using technology does not guarantee effective learning. As teachers, we must evaluate whether students truly learn with technology and how they do so. This involves analysing results to determine the relevance and depth of their understanding of concepts learned through technology.
